I gotta love ebay idiots .... Im in the process of selling off my entire D&D minis collection (1000+ minis) so i was wacthing some key figs to see what they were going for .... well one mini (Drizzt) is a pretty saught after piece .... at the time there was 5 up for auction .... 2 were BIN\'s/auction and the others just auction .... the one that was getting ready to end in a hour had 3 people in a bid war over it .... it finaly ended at $122.50 ..... Now the ironic thing about this was ... the next in line to end had a starting bid of $60 and a BIN of $65 ..... lol
suckers... (BTW yes they were both in the same condition and same shipping cost)

It always makes me chuckle .. sometimes though other factors come into it ..Feedback ...location payment methods....all can affect...

My feedback is over 500 positive now and each hundred marker I pass sees a little jump in prices...

sometimes there may be an extra word or so in the title.. it\'s a funny old game.

Thats just the thing ..... the guy who sold it for $122 only had like 120 FB .... the one with the $65 BIN is a ebay Power seller with over 5000 (99.7%)... (Ive bought plenty from him) and the descriptions were almost the same... Its just one of thoose things where they get caught up in the moment and dont stop to think logicaly....

I\'ve done it myself especially when spending that make believe money on paypal...I\'ve paid more than a model costs new in the GW store 5 minutes from my house ..sometimes it\'s the competitive edge that comes through....weird really

I\'ve gotten into a bidding war over the limeted edition skaven standard bearer. I lost the first one but then another came up the same week. I went a couple of pounds further up for that one and won it. The annoying thing, my opponent in the bidding war was the guy who won the first one. I thought I\'d paid too much for it, although I got it for about a quid more than the first one went for and then a 3rd one came up, again the same week, and that went for a couple quid less so I guess I paid about the going price for it.

chances are the guy that won the first one and nearly won the second is one of the guys that has em for sale in an ebay store for £50 a piece.....
The best one I had recently was a guy who bought imperial armour update from me on ebay for £27 ...the book is still available in GW for £10 and he lives round the corner from me.. I felt guilty and had to make absolutely sure he knew the book he was getting...but as they say you need 2 people at least to get a price...the winner and the one a quid below.

Yeah, he may have been thinking he was getting the forgeworld hardback books or something; but you did check. Err, was that £50 thing just an example of what there may be or have you seen such prices for the model. If so, I got a bargain.

There are a couple of sellers that have a flat rate for all the limited edition stuf.. the minimum been £49.99
Yeah I\'ve seen the skaven one at that along with all the limited army standards.

doesn\'t mean that is the price they are worth just what those guys sell em for ..some people don\'t like the whole auction idea so will pay the extra buy it now prices to guarantee they get it when they want it...

I think I got mine for half that.

EDIT: A guy at the club managed to snag the box set with about six or seven limited SM models in it for about £35. Can\'t remember what they all were but the one he wanted was the Black Templar Emperor\'s Champion. I think he sold the others to other people at the club.

EDIT2: Found what it was he got. It was the Heroes of the Adeptus Astartes box set for the 25th anniversary. The majority of the models can still be bough; Azrael, Dante and so forth but even at normal prices £35 for 7 character models including the limited EC was a good deal.

Yea ebay is pretty funny when it comes to selling/buying models, some people have no clue and sell models really cheap yet they are dead rare (skulls ultramarine standard bearer for about £8) then there are others who are selling models mega expensive (malus darkblade on foot £45) like why can no one just put them on for reasonable prices

Just out of interest, anyone know what the old Bob Naismith space marines go for? I\'m thinking of the metal ones like this:

The best answer I can give is whatever they sll for at the time...not very descriptive I know but Ebay and the net in general has changed collecting so much not just this hobby but others as well...

I have a huge collection of unopened star wars stuff from the original ranges.. at one time when the main outlet was dealers and shows they were worth an absolute fortune.. now ebay has given people the chance to sell their stuff globally making rarer items more available and lowering the price..
trends change.. I\'ve been watching spined dragons a lately and they 6 months ago were averaging £150+ each .. now down to around £60 as everyone who has one kicking about sticks it on ebay wanting the quick bucks they saw the first one go for ..thing is now out of the 20+ people who were bidding on the first one I saw 12 now own them meaning the price is lowering..
Also a lot less collectors are visiting ebay as it is getting increasingly frustrating t filter through all the misleading crap to find the real good stuff... (that\'s here the buy it now stores win out as well.)

it\'s a funny old buisness and as I say it only needs 2 people who really want it at that time...best advice is if you do sell any make sure pictures are good and you have them on for as long a time as is comfortable for you maximising chance of picking up interested parties....

I have one of those old space marines just lying in my bitz box didn\'t know they were worth anything?! How much do they normally go for then?

I\'ve bought slightly more recent marines than that on eBay for a few British pounds each. There may be a limited interest in them because they\'re not as well sculpted/cast as the \"next generation\" were, and really only us old fogeys even know they exist ;) So they may not be a good thing to bank your retirement on :D

I have never understood the reason that anyone pays some of the prices that they sometimes pay for my stuff on eBay... but bless them that they do!

I collect the old RT marines. I can tell you that guy usually doesn\'t go for much. You may get $5. The X-mas marines may fetch a fair price.

I was just wondering as I had a few of the old marines like that, not just that one in the picture, but other ones, like with missile launcher and other weapons. A couple of them have a little paint on them but I did something stupid with the rest a few years back. I was considering getting back into the hobby and I thought I may have a SM army, starting with the few old metal and plastic ones I have. However, I also thought I would add to them with the newer ones and I wanted to paint the squad markings on the right shoulder and the chapter symbol on the left. I filed all the bumps off the left shoulder pad. Therefore I\'m quite relieved that they are not worth much. :D

Probably my best buys on ebay apart from the skulls standard bearer have been the gotrek and felix diroma for about £20 when it was being sold by GW for £50 i also bought 10waywatchers (newest version) for £14 and the wood elf lord with great weapon for about £2, but really i would like some of the past few years gamesday models but they are being sold for at least £15 annd the better models go up to £45 for a £6 model no chance:cussing:
