After seeing a few auctions get pulled in recent days due to sellers\' friends driving up the bids on models, this one got my attention.

By no means a bad looking model, but a brand new account (registered Friday) with 0 feedback bumped up the price by over 170 quid this weekend.

Seems a bit funky to me, since the bidding is way higher than most models by Alexi_Z, Jen Haley and the likes but IMHO the paintjob is nowhere near that level. The \'Eavy Metal one has cleaner work and tons of scrollwork on the cloak that isn\'t even attempted here.

My sincere apologies to Griffin\'s Nest if this is a legitimate bidding war, but it really just stood out as suspect given the recent activities of some eBay sellers.

Any comments?

Very nice mini and very good paintjob too, but the price is insane. I doubt he will ever see the money... ???

Hmmm. I dont know what a painted mini is worth. I mean if I worked at painting on an hourly rate it wouldnt be much. I painted a mates army (about 100 models) and was paid less than what that mini is going for. Oh well it might be legit.

The guy took him up from £120 too.
Thats for a figure that should get £40 max to begin with.

Its a nicely painted model by ebay standards, but £250 is crazy, i have seen stuff like this go for £100 and this would be o.k. but just o.k. and of course would still be a lot, £250 makes me think there\'s something going on though, but you can never tell, from exprience i can tell you there are some crazy bidders on ebay.

but what would be the purpose of letting someone bid that high for your miniature?
i mean the other person bidding must be a fake bidder too if you look at the price
all that will be left for him is a very high ebay fee and not a single cent from the buyer :\\

It might be a vioalation, but an auction is worth as much as the buyer is willing to pay (even if it is totally insane)

There seems to be quite a lot of this going on lately, how anyone can honestly believe this is worth this much confounds me, £60 tops!! The seller should be concerned as it looks like a wind up!

This seller has been on eBay a long time and I would be shocked if they would risk the almost 1000 feed back rating with shill bidding. sgt_tiberius is bidding on 22 other auctions all for Black Templars and a few for this model..... one that went for 430.00 usd he missed

Its Christmas time and new buyers may not see eye to eye of others idea of value. It is shiny and a Black Templar.

New model, good paint job and timing. I saw some wild prices in the new wood elf line at first its the \"I want it now\" clause.
A few hundred dollars is a night on the town to some people this lasts longer than a hangover.

I am starting to think that ebay is not worth the trouble anymore.

I had one woman try to get $20.00 shipping for a Living Saint model and a plastic Bretonian knight. Then I had another person try to get $20 to ship two Heroclix here. They said it included the cost of a box, gas to go to the post office, and the use of the computer.

I remember once I was bidding on the old out of production Wood Elf Chariot. Another bidder (with zero feedback) kept pushing it up, a dollar or two at a time. Finally as the auction closed the \'other bidder\' won the item. Within 2 minutes, I had an e-mail from the seller asking if I would be willing to buy it for my last bid...I didn\'t even respond. lol Rip off artist!

The cool thing was that another e-bay user also e-mailed me, pointing to the Games Workshop store to where you could buy the OOP directly...and about half the price!

It seems for every bad e-bayer, there is also a good one...:cool:

Even though there is lots of shill bidding going on on eBay these days..I agree with TAB this just might be legit. Some people may have more money than common sence these days. It is the Christmas season.

Its one interesting to follow and see if buy and seller leave feedbacks for the auction.

I\'d be surprised if Griffins Nest was instigating this... he\'s been selling on ebay for ages and is a nice guy and straight down the line too from the dealings that I\'ve had with him. Maybe you should email him and ask him privately before pissing on his good name in a public forum.

No, that was tracys (TAB) point..that the seller was legit and that the bidder looked to be a serious new ebayer trying to amass a painted Black Templar force from ebayers. I dont think anyone was saying Griffins Nest was involved in anything wrong.

It\'d be a very nice thought that Griffin\'s Nest does get the amount that the auction is at. My fingers are crossed that he/she doesn\'t get stiffed on the last bid.

And let\'s be honest here, doesn\'t everyone who puts up auctions in Ebay secretly wish that they too get a bidding war like this..and that it\'s a legitimate bidder.
