eBay Shenanigans

DR has a point. I hope the auctions are legit. I remember when I was trying to unload some anime when I was moving, and some kids thought it was funny to bid up my auctions, win the auctions and not pay, then leave me negative feedback. I got burn like that two or three times. :flame:

And let\'s be honest here, doesn\'t everyone who puts up auctions in Ebay secretly wish that they too get a bidding war like this..and that it\'s a legitimate bidder.

Yup, we all look for this to happen.

Although I find it hard to believe that someone is really goin to pay 500 + USD for a single mini that isnt Golden Demon quality.
Margo\'s ogres are 600 and that is 6 guys.
I hate to be harsh but there are many mins that are way better than this and probably wouldn\'t get as much as this.
I hope they don\'t get stiffed. They\'d be rolling in the dough.

definitely looks a bit suss:mad:
looks like a bunch of friends bidding it up.
Seen it happen plenty of times when someone has 2 accounts one to sell with and another to \"raise\" their bids
oh well if it is it\'ll bite him in the ass as he wont sell the mini and he\'ll have to pay ebay their cut:D

i think we all have to start painting some black templar stuff and relocate to the south of france! thats a lot of money for that mini! mind you there isn\'t that much templar stuff that has won demons, just look at the sparse stuff in the showcase at the back of the codex???

The seller seems legit, the buyer could just be causing problems. I know as a E-bay seller I get real worried when a 0 rating bidder wins one of my auctions. I hope things work out for this guy.

Sgt Tiberious is obviously an bid raiser.

How on earth do you know that? He may just be insane...

As for those saying that the price is not worth it, thats rubbish. I can earn $150 dollars in my day job in half the time it would take me to paint a mini to that standard. Mini painters generally get ripped off unless they are those freaks that can churn out 8+ minis in a hour.

It works the other way as well, I recently sold a bunch of computer stuff and for some of it I lost money on the sale, thats the risk you take.

Well I had no intention of \"pissing on a good name\" here, just thought it was pretty crazy bidding and, like I said, there\'s been a lot of this shill bidding going around lately.

I tried to stay away from an accusational tone, and even included a preemptive apology, but I understand if someone gets a bit offended by the idea.

Anyway it seems like Tiberius is a real bidder, with money burning a serious hole in his/her pocket this Christmas.

I think the moral of the story is: Screw finals, I\'m painting Black Templars ;)

Wow, that went for more than my Terminator. Hope the bidder is legit. Nice xmas present for the seller :)

Looks like it was legit and my apologies for assuming otherwise.
The seller left positive feedback for the buyer so he must have paid.
Well done those men.

Now Im off to the smelly shop to pick me up some of those Templars.

NeilH That wasn\'t a particularly worthy comment. :(

I agree that Steve\'s terminator was (and still is) a beautiful piece of work, but that doesn\'t mean the particular figure being auctioned was any less valued by the winning bidder (or for that matter the painter!).

Whoa! He\'s entitled to an opinion if he thinks the Buddle figure was more worth it than the Ebay we\'ve been tracking! It\'s the same for the fella who bought it and probably likes it and for Neil who didn\'t buy it and doesn\'t think it was that good. Both valid opinions. I think a general consensus here would be that Buddle\'s is certainly worth more in comparison. I back Neil\'s comments fully, just as you back the fella who won it and his right to enjoy it.

It\'s the market that decides the value. On the current market, the templar is over-priced imo, whereas the ultra termi was not.

I\'m certainly glad to hear that Griffins_nest was able to successfully sell Helbrecht, and that certainly is a nice chunk of change for the holiday season.

I\'m sorry if Griffin\'s reputation was hurt at all by my comments here, I was just really surprised to see that bidder come out of nowhere and spend so much money in his first 2 days on the account. That\'s the reason I don\'t have a credit card, I\'d probably do the same thing :)

Once again, I sincerely hope that I didn\'t permanently offend anyone because that certainly wasn\'t my intention. I hope everyone involved, and everyone who commented one way or the other, has a great Christmas/holidays and that we all find that much success in what we do.

Cheers,
-Dan

The only people you could have possibly offended are the PC brigade and softies. I think it was a worthwhile effort chatting about it. When a majority of people think it hilarious that it fetched so much there certainly has to be a reason for it. And drawing comparisons is normal too. Good stuff folks!
