Try a neutral background.
Horrible things seem to have happened to your photo! Have you over compressed the picture when you saved it perhaps? And yeah, checking out the articles scattered about here to learn how to clean up the background would be a good idea.
What I can see looks decent enough, although the leaps in your highlights look rather sharp. Perhaps this would benefit from a few very thin glazes of the base colour to smooth things out, then perhaps a final even lighter highlight on just fine edges where light would hit the model.
