Economic Downturn

Just call it a recession! We\'re pretty much in recession of sorts, but will the Government admit it? Like hell!

I\'m having to be pretty frugal at the moment and have put in place a rigid system whereby I know at all times how much cash I have in my pocket per month. I should have done that years ago, but needs must! You need a few hard times to learn these things, and things are certainly getting harder. I\'m not skint, but I\'m not flush either - just about alright is the best way to put it. No more cashmere cod-pieces for thissun!

It\'s an amalgamation of many things over here. Suffice to say it\'s been apparent for about a year and was threatening for a while before that. Everything has gone up at a rate far above cost-of-living increases in the work-place.

But the Government still won\'t admit to it being a recession!

Rev, I think I can safely speak for a LOT of people here when I say we\'re not surprised you\'re confused, and it\'s certainly not strange that you\'re aroused!lol

it\'s funny I was having thisconversation with a couple of restaurant owners I know last night.. Always good for getting the early signs of struggles them guys .. first thing knocked on the end for a lot of folk is a good meal out....
They were saying what pretty much sums up most peoples thoughts I guess, that there is so much juggling about with rates etc at the moment and the government have been denying it for a long while like ya say and all the signs are they\'ve basically been piling up the problems like snow on a mountainside robbing peter to pay paul and when it goes it\'s gonna go with a big bang......

Govt Statistics manipulated by politicians what can you expect?
When our Govt is lying about simple things like cost increase indexes it\'s not that hard to realise that the are also lying about crime rates, specifically the proliferation of Knife related incidents.

As a Socialist of long standing I\'m disgusted with the current \"Labour\" Government, which has abandoned so many of the principles on which the Labour movement was founded.

I\'m actually enjoying the decline. Before two years ago, we\'d wait nearly an hour for a table at a restaurant, and with a pair of young kids, that\'s really harsh. Now? We\'ve never had to wait five minutes.

Bit selfish, but I tend to be optimistic anyway. And completely anal about my finances. I know what my checking account balance is roughly going to be three months from now.
