So... with eight sculpts and eight of *each* sculpt, I'm finding Zombicide base game a good way to experiment and practice with primers and undercoats!
Are there any priming and undercoat techniques you can recommend that I'm missing?
So far it's:
* Black primer followed by white primer.
* Black primer.
* White primer.
* Clear gesso with brown paint.
I know black gesso and white gesso are alternatives, but I'm thinking the end results are pretty much like black primer and white primer. I could also do black primer followed by white drybrushing, but I guess the results would be similar to black primer followed by white (I then touch up with a little drybrushing). I could spray and wash or dip with Army Painter primers, or black primer followed by drybrushing some other color, but am kinda not sure maybe about it.
I HIGHLY recommend trying black primer followed by white primer, per the Massive Voodoo primer article. You only spray enough white primer to form shadows, and can drybrush white (or another color) to touch up the white primer. You can even dot the eyes red with a micron pen and stop there for a sorta black and white Dawn of the Dead effect, or use glazes to keep those lovely shadows around.
So... any other ideas? And what worked best for you? Thanks!
