Eldar Autarch repost with pic

Ok then, had some issues with tagging this thread, I cant seem to make it under 25 characters, so I just added an attachment instead...

This is my Autarch Conversion that consists of about 9 seperate Eldar models. Its all cut and paste. I work in a bit of a different way than most people who paint. Instead of putting down a base colour, move to 2nd level of shading, 3rd...etc. I will completely finish (or close to it) a part and move on to the next. Ive tried it the other way but I get bored, I have the attention span of a ferret.

The only things that I would consider done on this model at the moment are the faceplate, and some chest plates. I mainly put it up to get feedback on the shades of red Im using and the conversion itself.

If I could also get some ideas for the colour of the sword and other points of interest in the model I would be really appreciative.

So I invite you...yes you!! on this journey, to help me complete this model via your brilliant ideas, how exciting!!!

I don't have anything to offer you about the conversion process. Only support! I actually paint in the exact same way as you. I need to finish a part off, then keep going.

Anyway, only reason I am posting is to ask if your Avatar is a Fubar reference. If so.... AWESOME!

Dude, I got a shirt made up that says that.

Just Giv'r!

Did you hear the same dude is making a TV show? I don't have the link but if you google it or look it up on IMDB it's there.

from what i can see the red armour looks fantastic and the base is very cool. one thing i would suggest is when you paint the gun do some sort of free hand design on the barrel as the weapon is very big prominant.

keep up the good work m8

Love the painting, with the exception of the hair and the headband thingie, very hard to see the transition between the hair and the band and even into the face (which I think looks top).
2. What is the models pose doing? If I miss my guess the bottom half is a jumping Harlequin legs with one or more feet off the ground. But the upper torso is reading (left arm, head and back) chilled and stoic leader, with the right arm more in to with a forward movement, a trot maybe?
Of course this could be just from the camera angle, and as always just the way I see it. M2C

thanks duck you bring up some good points. the models pose wierd, u know with the legs portraying motion and the torso looking somewhat placid. btw your right about the harlequin legs. my vision was that the autarch is descending from a jump, knees bent as he/she braces for impact (ive given up on deciding if its a dude or a girl so im leaning more towards tranny). eldar are mysterious and majestic creatures that dont move the same way as humans so I left the arms looking somewhat solemn to represent this, but i guess i failed miserably :D

as for the headband, i dont think there is one hehe i have to go back and check. the pictures arent great so i can c why u might think that. unless u mean the mask iteself, in that case you are completely right about the transition. im darkening up the hair at the front because I thought the same thing when looking at the pic.

thanks for the comment dude

well... you wanted a comment...

First the pose:

In my opinion, the carcass has to bend a little more to the front. so you can jugde the pose more, like after a jump. A little adjust to the arms, that they are more wide, would be nice too.

I dont think the head suits the model very good. But this is a personal opinion. I think there is a helm missing.

The painting:

I linke the painting on the abdominal muscles and the armor on the shoulder.

But I am sorry, I dont understand the parts on the left breast, the head and the green part.

The left arm needs imo a little more blendings. It is not easy to blend realy every part from the darkest to the lightest color, but I would prefer this on the left arm.

Well... I hope I didnot offend you. But I try to honest and it is very difficult for me to write gently in english. So i rather wirte free-spoken, than to miss the main point.

Greeting, Taggi

thanks taga! i appreciate the honesty of your criticism. the blending in the left arm was not close to being complete in the photo. and i agree with you on the free hand it needs more emphasis. There is not much I can do to the pose right now, or the face! But hopefully I can win you over with the finished product.

like the sword, your colour transitions are very nice and smooth could do with some different angle pictures for better feed back or have you only painted the front:suspicious:
