Hi. Started working on this.
Head and weapon swap on Yriel\'s body, pretty simple really but I thought it worked quite nicely.

I\'m not sure about the resin bit on the base with the helmet, although it still needs sand or something on the base to finish it off and tidy it up, I thought it might me a bit over the top.
And speaking of over the top, I can\'t make up my mind whether to put the samurai style back banners on him, or what to do with the back should I leave the banners off, I thought about a single guardian back fin thing. I\'m also wondering whether or not to model a fusion gun on there, slung on a strap under his left arm, any thoughts.

I guess that I see one banner, with the gun slung across the back, on a long sling. something along the lines of hes just moved back around out of the way so he can swing his sword a little freer?

Hi, up dates with the fusion gun, the strap was a real pain in the arse, couldn\'t really figure out where to put it, seems to have worked out o.k.. Also decided to go for the mono fin over the baner/banners. What do you reckon?

Also included are pics of a jet bike with underslung launcher, I was gonna put it under one of the wings, but I fit didn\'t look right.

God, I was looking for a nice elf face to Caradryan and there it was all along. Well I resculpted the existing one to do my own instead.. :) Probably was better for training my skillz though.

Very good conversion! Looking forward seeing it painted.

Colour, thought I\'d go for a white cloak, but Ireally don\'t like the way it works with the other colours. I\'m thinking of going over it either in black or very dark brown. What do you think?

nice work, but i would say that i wouldn\'t do any metallics ,as it is an eldar, so do nmm, or if u cant, try a light \'wraithbone\' type

Where is the light coming from?

I think the white cloak can work, but you need to mark your shadows more. Parts of the cloak that are under his arms or his fusion gun should be darker IMHO. And I\'m not sure the part under his right leg should be that highlighted.

In the same way, his armor could use some more dramatic shadows (knee pads and inner leg armor).

I think the metalic parts can work well with him since he\'s based on an eldar pirate, so it gives him a grittier feel than the other \"fairies\" :p. But I\'d highlight the blade a bit more to give it a cutting edge look.

I think the white works with the other colours. I don\'t know much about Eldar and the 40K world but purely on aesthetic calues the white and boney colur work well together.

If you do decide to change it then I think black would be better over the dark brown.

I have a collection of Eldar and find them fun to paint. Having considered your mini i tend to agree that the white is letting you down.

Its just not contract enough with the bone armour plates and gives the mini a sense of \'unfinished\'

I would be tempted to repaint the cloak in a vivid electric blue colour, or red both contrast nicely with the bone, and would offer you opportunities for the hair & face.

bit of a noobish question, but where is that broadsword from? I would like to use it on my autarch i am planning. The white doest contrast enough with the bone for me. Also, why is his head white? He looks vampire-esque(no offence meant).

just my 2 pence.

Thanks for the feed back, I\'ll try and take it on board.
First off, I\'m getting really in to metallics at the moment, plus my NMM sucks, I don\'t have a problem with eldar and metallics, but when I\'ve finished I\'ll lighten them up a bit.
It\'s all very much WIP, the face has just been given a white undercoat, but I think greenstuff is right and I should be considering the light source a lot more.
As for the cape, I\'m gonna try for a really dark brown, nearly black, and glaze it in reds, if it doesn\'t look so good I guess I\'ll be painting the thing again.lol
Rosac, the sword is from the Autarch on jet bike, probably about the nicest thing in the box to be honest, but being as GW have killed the bits line, unless you want to pay 25 squid for the thing, I reckon you should ask around and see if anyone\'s got one there willing to sell/trade.
Rgds all

In this case, why not do it the other way around? Start with a dark red, darken with browns and purples, and highlight with a mix of the dark red you used and some Space Wolf Grey or Bleached Bone (depending if you want a cold or warm red). This way you should have a better controle on your contrast, the color tones, and you\'ll have less puddle rings.

progress on the cloak, @ green stuff, wish I\'d read your post before, I\'d have liked to have tried it that way. next time:)
Is the light source looking any better? I\'m trying for a zenithal (whatever) effect

I think it now has an old leather look (and it works ;)).

You might want to highlight a bit more his right collar (near his chin).

I\'d darken a wee bit more his cloak under his right arm (where the green cloth is (outer part)) and add more pronounced shadows on his armor; but it\'s just a suggestion :

What are your plans for his skin? Warm or cold colors?

Thanks green stuff, the pic with the suggestions added is helpful, I\'ve already moved it on a bit, unfortunately in the process I\'ve lost that worn leather look which is a shame. I\'ve darkened the folds, and I now need to up the high lights and add some coloured glazes to the cape, then I\'ll be moving back to the armour, the metals and finally the head, which I plan to do cold and pale. I\'ve base coated the hair sky blue, which I\'ll work up to white, to go with the pale complexion and provide an extreme contrast to the earth tones, and a strong focus to the mini. I imagine a kinda manga like hair thing going on. I\'ll see if I can up date the pics the weekend. Rgds:)
