This is the first eldar mini i have painted. I had to speed paint it for the evay metal competition, because i accidentally dropped the first attempt and the arm and head came off two days before the comp deadline. It was close and i was up late into the night finishing it. Painted in about 5 hours:

It was also for the paint off challege, but james has loads of work, i guess we could leave it till the summer holidays and do another mini?

Not bad! There is a pretty heavy yellow cast though. What camera do you use? Can you set other white balance settings or even go manual?

The yellow is the lamp i used, will not be using it again. Normally my pics taken in natural light are blue cast. Not sure how to change the settings ( i think you can but i havent tried yet).

The camera is a sony dsc s730

You have a number of different pre-settings to use. Read the manual it should be fairly easy to do, probably under the \"menu\" button. Then if the settings are any good it should matter less whether the lamp has a yellow cast. What whitebalance does is to tell the camera what is white and then change the tones accordingly.

When i first started the colour scheme it looked a bit like a christmas pudding, with the brown, white armour and green with red.

Looks nice alex but if you have a minute could you maybe retake the pics with changed lighting.

I was going to enter the facebook EM group but lately i have found no time to paint good luck with it

not bad but the blending n the base of the cloak is suffering!

Luckily that is only weathering powder so i can rub it off and do it again

I was using the powder and accidentally picked up a damp brush and messed it up.

I will get some pics soon, probs wont be till thurs at the earliest. I am a bit snowed under with loads of work at the moment. I have an essay in for tomorrow of which i have done 4 out of 18 sections...

The work should clear after this weekend though so lots of painting fun for me!

how did you get the sides of the lego plinth so smooth have you filled the joints in between the bricks and sanded it

Yeh, i put milliput on all the joins and then sanded it. After that i did a milliput wash and sanded again. You can barely see the joins, only slightly if you tilt it too catch the light,

First let me say this is a very good job, tones and blending on the cloak are top notch.

I have one issue that keeps drawing my eye; the dirt on the cloak - back view, left side. When I first see it, it looks like it might be a freehand pattern, which would make it a bit sloppy; then I look around and I realize its dirt.

I think it needs to be blended more so it looks more like its soaked into the fabric. I also believe the dirt should go all the way to the bottom of the cloak, since its dragging on the ground.

It\'s a minor issue that maybe only I notice, figured I would let you know. Good work.
