well, it might be the case we`ve hit the cultural or personal differences . could be mate :D...
personally i don`t mind critique at least if it`s constructive, doesn`t targer me personally but my work and concerns things that are rather true. don`t need all that \"easing\" stuff - i can still have fun with it, as long as I find painting enjoyable  .
maybe it`s also about having a bit of distance to yourself and your hobby ?

Oh shut up you two already :p
What said was what was to be said ;)
Gloss is not a good way to finish off your minis imho :p
Hope Seraphim won\'t need a psychological therapy after this topic ;)

HM: lol I\'ll shut up after this.

:p well, we aren\'t all alike, and that\'s a good thing. I might be so frank between friends.. especially if he ask solely for criticism or if the mini is a WIP. But imagine you take one of your minis hand it over to a bloke and he says: You need to make smoother highlights and i don\'t like that green color and the base is too simple and hands you the mini back. How would you react? I\'d probably laugh at the guy and ask if he woke up at the wrong side of bed this morning, or possibly just shrugged. But if he just had added a \"Nice.. but\" before I wouldn\'t react and if he had said \"Nice, I really like the face but\" i would even have a positive feeling getting the mini back and perhaps listen more carefully to his advice too. That\'s my only point and that\'s why I smile and say hello to my grumpy neighbours too. :)

GREAT! I just wrote a looooooong response and my computer broke down :p

I\'ll shorten it now...

Hash: The gloss is very valid indeed, as it is a part of the mini\'s and a part of their background. But most people won\'t even see it like that, so I\'ll stop bothering to post my Eldars. And it\'s not used to \"finish off\" the mini.

Won\'t need psycological therapy after this, I\'ll just add it to the existing bill :p :D :D

Avelorn: I have to side with you, there are ways to say things but this is the internet, things can be misunderstood SO fast, so I see where they are coming from.

Przemas: I found your second post ALOT more useful than your first! Thanks for letting me know where the heck I\'d gone wrong with the gem! For the bone, I have overglossed it with white, that is why it looks that way, I\'ll enhance the shades some more, I just felt the brown was too strong to begin with.

And I don\'t consider myself a whimp for asking for constructive critisism, your first part wasn\'t really constructive, that was just demeaning ;)

That said! I\'m looking forward to sharing more... wait... not Eldar... well... if I ever paint anything that will satisfy the CMON croud, I\'ll post it... maybe.... :p

You may have misunderstood some people here...

You wrote that you are stunned that you got only 5. something and a couple of 6es for your minis.
I understand that you gave a lot of work and heart into those minis , but try to understand the people who look at your minis, look at the final effect!

You ask people for opinions, and they give you opinions, their opinions.

If you\'ll stop posting minis it will mean that you have no tollerance for crticisism...

No one wants to hurt you , people just say what is wrong, some use polite language , some are more straight to you.

Try also topic \'thick skin\' this should be helpful ;)

@Dark Seraphim: remember , the most important thing is that YOU like your models. don`t get discouraged by comments - use them to improve, to make your minis even better. i remember smile on my face when i compared the minis I`ve painted a couple of years ago the the ones painted recently.
BTW: where I was demeaning? let me know so I`ll be more clear in the future.

@Hash: Oi, bloke!

As to Thick skin topic, if you had noticed I was very active in that topic... so I know...

Just said I wouldn\'t post more of the Eldars, as I know where it will end up.. Noone likes to be demeened every time you post something, because you use gloss...

Przemas: If you look at your first post, it was all negative things you focused on, nothing good... A good way to start out, is with something that you like and then criticise.

@Dark Seraphim: well, I`ve stated my point of view on comments a few posts earlier - imo they don`t need softening things :D . this does not make critique constructive. ideas what to do with those weaker bits do. this is something i value in comments the most.
i think that gloss varnish is not a problem. if you look closely at my first post you`ll notice I had written that i respect your choice. working on those other aspects that were mentioned in this topic would result in better model.

well.... Hash you were propably right.. I`ll shut up now... I`ve already started running in circles :D
