My latest paintjob a classic early 90s sculpt by Jes Goodwin.
The model was both quick and fun to paint. In particular I enjoyed painting the extreme highlights on the sniper-rifle.

I hope you like him!

nice job, the gun especially -although it pretty much steal the focal point from the face which look a bit dull in comparison ;)

Yeah, you're absolutely right. The face was not at all as fun as I had hoped for. And I have had the mini in my drawer for more than 10 years and have thought about painting him lots of times. However, overall, I think the the mini does stand the test of time. A classic sculpt.

That mini is nice but I think the base could be a bit darker to give a contrast, it looks a bit too simple for me like this.

Ahhh nice! I'm firmly in the "I live nostalgic old sculpts camp" and this is a fantastic rejuvenation of an oldun.I'd agree about the base, seems too light. Overall though, sweet piece =)

gonna be really critical here and say that the cloak doesn't seem as smooth as the rest of him. agree with the comments about the face. maybe a tattoo to break it up? stil lovely piece though. love the base

Well...allow me to have a slightly different take. The roughness of the cloak adds to it's texture. It shouldn't have a smooth finish as the armor does.

It's a cracking good piece!

Freakinacage and Supervike: I think you are both describing the mini - just with diffrently oppinions. Thanks for the honest comments to both of you (and to the other as well). The bottom half of the shading on the cloak is done using MIIG pigments mixed into that almost waterlooking but thinker liquid that you always get from Vallejo colours that hasn't been used for a while. A while back I found out - by chance - that this works well with pigments. I suppose it would be similar to mixing pigments with flow extender. Anyway, this gives the shading a really matt and dirty look. The cloak could have been worked on some more, but overall I like the effect - especially since it adds a very strong contrast to the extreme highlights on the suit and weapon.

Its an okay mini and the paintjob is top notch, which is to be expected of course from a painter like yourself. I am a big fan of your stuff but I would like to see you do some more non-GW stuff. Especially rackham and enigma, so a request there if you are up for it.........?

Thanks. My favorite miniatures have always been GW. I have painted the odd model from other companies and naturally paint the display minis for my own small miniature-line Runic Miniatures, but I don't see myself shifting to painting lots of Rackham models for instance. What can I say: Im a GW fanboy!
