Eldar Wave Serpent

Hi all, I hope you are well. My latest project is a customised Eldar Wave Serpent which I have built using a Falcon kit. The Falcon kit was a budget buy because the turret sprue was missing and so I decided that I would toy around with some green stuff (a first attempt). Now I would like to post some pictures of progress thus far, I am not sure that I am pleased with the turret, if nothing else I made the classic error of finger-printing the putty. Would it be appropriate to try and file down the green stuff or should I maybe try something else ? I know there is quite a bit of tidying up to do, especially around the joins where the cannons meet the turret. Any tips as to how best to do this ? Adding more GS was an idea but I am not sure its the best approach. All criticism and comments most welcome...

i would reccomend using a non expanded styrene foam for the shape of the turret and eithe aves apoxie sculpt or magic sculpt over it. sets rock hard and can be carved and filed better than gs

ok thanks for that, I noticed that gs did not file well actually in terms of foam is the non expanded stryene the stuff that comes in blister packs ?

Something I remembered seeing in a WD from around the time the Falcon kit had just come out... you could use a plastic spoon bowl (or some other similar shape) as the base of the turret. I think that would be easier than trying to greenstuff the whole shape.

no its the hard stuff that builders use for insulation. if you find a house thats being done up and you ask nicely, often the builders will give you some (or may require some bribery in the form of a pack o\' bikkies). either that or a local builders merchants or diy store, often have offcuts

Ok Freakinacage, thanks for that, think I might go down the \"spoon\" road though as my sculpting skills leave a lot to be desired. I have demolished the GS turret I made as I think you\'ll agree; it wasn\'t great! Thanks for the comments!
