Here i my first WIP in the site I shall put all of my WIP\'s here now instead of having 80,000 threads for my work.

For the first one I have my Ravenwing Chaplain. I have painted the mini half way. I have been working on it on and off for about 2 weeks now, and this is the progress I made. I will begin the bike tonight. Let me know what you think!

My Pictures suck. Comment please. I am already thinking about changing the green of the grenades on his chest... too bright. I might go back to the original color I had them or a more subtle imperial guard green...

Crozius is stone. I went for the background of the dark angels being a little primitive you know? :) I got the effect I was looking for but, it does not seem anyone else gets it??? Thanks for commenting!

I would like some suggestionson whetherI should paint chips and scratches on the skull helmet and for the scratches on the armor, what color of underlay should I go for on black. Brown like cyris or should I go for metal showing ???

The helmet does look a bit clean, and the scratches (personaly ) I would do metalic.
It depends on your style.
I totally get the whole \"primitive vibe\" from it, thats why I was wondering about the crozius :)

Looking great. Maybe the crozier needs a green of blue tinge to distinguish from NMM metal. Scratches always a good idea as long as they are not over done. Do the bare meetal look as TBS said.

I did think about the metal. I did brown on this one and didn\'t pop out as well as I thought. But the helmet is definately too klean

Metal sounds good then...

Metallic scratches on the helmet would fit the best due to it being a cyborg head, i agree that it looks a little plain though.

Electro, this looks great. I like the look overall. I don\'t think the grenades are too bright. But that\'s just my opinion. Anxious to see it finished. I think a brown under the scratches would look great. I think ceramite is supposed to be non-metallic????

Hi electrolito 77 The thing I\'ve noticed is that photo 4, 5 above show a gradual highlighting effect on the black armour and the other photos not so much, if any. So I would say getting the photos right is your main priority.

I agree with the idea of washing the marble/stone weapon to make it look different to NMM steel.

Overall, its looking great and cant wait to see him finished
:D

I am working on the crozius. I\'ve been trying to give it a green hint to the color and it seems to be coming out well. It will take me a bit to get it to where I want but will be posting it soon.

Here is the progress I have made on the bike so far. I will leave the weathering for later on it, maybe until after I do all of the freehand work. Let me know what you guys think of it so far...

BTW the base is done.

Metallics I usually follow the same concept as NMM for where the higlights/shadows go.

-First I use a mix of VGC Chainmail Metal/Black/Cobra Leather for a base coat. I try to make sure it is dark but stil has that hint of brown to it.
-Next I use the same mix but a little more Chainmail Metal to the color.
-For the next coat I use a mix of VGC Terracotta/Silver (comes to a pinkish color) and apply it to the high areas to prepare for the wash.
-The first wash comes now with VGC cobra leather, make sure it is very diluted with water or a medium, start out wide the continue to hit the recess/low areas gradually until satisfied.
- After the wash dried apply a second wash with a mix Cobra Leather and Black on the low spots and recess areas, ensure it is very diluted to get the desired effect.
-For Last, once it has dried apply highlights using Silver staight out of the pot.

Hope it helps... :D

It is niiiicce!! The metallics are fantastic! The left back exhast pipes on the bike have a bit of an unblended silver bit around the little rectangle things. Just thought id point it out as it looks a little odd.

Thanks Matty I noticed that but I posted the pics anyway. lol

Is anyone familiar with the color \"Humbrol Crom\"? I dont know who makes it or where to get it, is this a color you can only find in the UK?

I was reading Kaple\'s tutorial on gold and was hoping someone could help me find that color... ???

I have been a little lazy but this is the progress I have made so far. I have re-painted the helmet so that it looks more in sync with the body (all that darn weathering). I also re-did the crozius arcannum so it looks less like NMM and looks more like the ancient stone look I was going for to begin with. Thanks to all for the comments. I am taking them seriously and trying to put them to work with the mini. Let me know what you think....:(

A little weathering on the hemet...
Chaplainhead.jpg

Here I also tried out Cyril\'s glowing eyes to see how it came out. I am not entirely happy with the result in picture but on my hands it looks great may I say!!!
Chaplainside.jpg

The crozius back photo I could not get a good one of the front but pretty much looks the same...
Croziusback.jpg

On the bike I have done little progress as you can see... the red on the bolters is done as well as the seat cushion and pouch (very blurry in rear). Still need to do a couple of touch ups here and there, for example, the sights are not done nor are the ammo feeding mechanisms
Updatebike.jpg

A better look at the other side, where I did the pistol puch plu the little ammo pouches...

That is looking fantastic. Some of the highlights on his armour are a bit \'big\' especially on his right arm. But other than that looking great.
