Elf Hero WIP

Hi! It\'s my first WIP, beautifuly sculpted GW mini and I want it to still look nice after I\'m done with paintjob. I don\'t have much experience but after reading few articles I\'ve started work on this guy. That\'s what I\'ve done so far.
I also have problem with colour scheme for this mini. As I want him to be ranger-like guy, painted in rather dark colours. I think of dark green (that\'s surprise for ranger...), brown, maybe blue, silver with little gold aplications for armor, and purple or red for something to stand out. But I\'m not sure with this so help and suggestions would be appreciated.

ranger got to mean sneaky-and-stealt-like-killer-dude-unless-the-enemy-is-to-big(it is an elf) so I think you should keep the metals to a minimum that would simply be to noisy. leather armour is the way to go

I agree if its a ranger type guy he could do with leather armour, you could do it with a deep chesnut colour or very deep redish brown. The face is looking good mate keep us posted good luck. :D

Leather is good idea for ranger\'s armour but his greaves definately aren\'t looking as made of leather, rather like solid battle plates. So maybe warrior would be better than ranger...

looking great ! I initially thought the eyes looked too \'starey\' with too much blacklining, but the hair and more colour helps balance that out.

I have this mini on my desk, and you may have just inspired me to stick some paint on the bugger!

I\'ve worked some time on his cloak. Transitions between colours are too rough (espacially on 2nd and 3rd fold) and I need advice how I can get them smoother now. Maybe another level of highlighting would be good? Feedback appreciated.

Looking nice so far, what you could do with the cloak is apply some very thin coats of the middle shade of green to blend the highlighing in a bit.
As for the colour scheme i would stick with the browns and greens and as said earlier be minimal with any metal areas, to make it stand out abit more i would then go for a bit of red, perhaps just on the gemstones for example.

Looking great so far, just one point are the eye balls large enough?? cant see really clearly, but with this quality you dont want him looking frightened!!

Cloak looks great, its always difficult to know how high to take the highlights, just be carefull they dont go chalky, washes help with transititions, but i\'ll leave those details to the masters.
All the best, and a most impressive job so far.:D
