This is my first real attempt at blending and directional lighting. I realize I did not take enough time to maintain the same level of quality all around the mini, ans certainly took a wrong decision by doing edge highlight on the left shoulder pad. I focused my attention on the right-hand side of the body armor and helmet, I hope it shows!

The visor was done with oil paints (Burnt Umber and Raw Sienna), then gloss varnished. The boots received satin varnish.

All sugestions for improvements are welcome!

Like the visor!

The armor looks decent, but I think you may have to exaggerate the contrast even more. You've maintined the right highlighting (at least to my eyes) throughout the armor. (except as you mentioned the left pad)

The cloth however, doesn't look as as convincing. Don't want to sound harsh, but IMHO, it's the cloth that brings down the mini.

Of course, I realize that the huge pics probably don't do the mini justice. At scale, maybe the effect isn't quite so strong.

To summarize

Areas of strength:
- the visor (the blending is indeed much better than my previous attempts)
- the color scheme (I wanted a muted color scheme to mimic modern camo fatigues)
- the lighting is consistent across the armor

Areas of improvement:
- maintain consistent degree of quality across the model (damned left shoulder pad!)
- use greater contrast between lightest and darkest areas
- more work on the fatigues is needed (I won't do a wash of the whole area next time)

Thanks for the comments, I'll show my next "better tabletop" mini after it's done!
