As for the NMM I will say your better off using the guide that darran latham did in white dwarf. What I do is not true NMM more it is the old school way of painting marine chest eagles but for those truly interested heres how I do it.

Basecoat 50:50 snakebite leather (GW):calthan brown (GW Foundation)
Shading washes of 50:50 scorched brown (GW) :chaos black (GW)
first highlight 50:50 snakebite leather (GW) : Golden Yellow (VGC)
second highlight 50:50 previous mix : Ivory (VMC)

aboves mixes are approximate and used in successive thin coats to achieve desired olour intensitys except where I was lazy lol

Looking good. I think the interior of the tank needs a bit more....something. I love the pong game though!!!

The marines all look damn fine.

Yellow is a damn hard color to paint.

I am thinking of painting the door another colour and maybe the top of the bench seats but want to crack on a bit more with the exterior first. Also toyed around with the idea of making a hollowed out damaged marine helmet rolling around on teh floor with some spent magazines. Im trying to keep the extra detailing till i get my first army block done and do it at the same time as the insignia and markings, still have to use my elodie mae empty shell casings on some bases too.

looking nice noneed.
the idea of making the door a different coloris nice!
Also you could paint the 2 square lights next to the door.
The lights next to the rear door painted might help draw the eyes down to the panel also.

The yellow is very even and smooth, excellent job there! Are you planning on weathering this bad boy up once you've got it finished or are you going to stay at the showroom pristine look?

so just bushes and shell casings to add to the base and then onto icons and insignia

you watched it, you can't unwatch it!

well not really happy with where i've gotten to freehanding turned out nigh impossible after adding the base as i coudnt keep it still, just about managed the tactical marking but the scythe logo was beyond me. Need to the blend the transfers into the paint more too, really obvious in the photos. But the base has gone through puberty and is now hairy so have reached a point were not really happy im probably gonna call it a day to move onto the next thing. Heres how it looks for now.

so next its onto the other five tactical marines, three with boltguns, one mulit-melta and a powerfist, combi-flamer wielding sergeant.

Very tidy work! I love your bases.
May I ask what you used to make the tank base? I wanted to make something similar.

These guys are really looking good! I'm gonna lift that basing idea for my vehicles now. It's got a good display quality but it looks like it would still work with most tabletops. Awesome!

cheers im also trying to keep it toned in to match with the planetstrike scenery I have already painted up so will look all synergystic and sexy on the table. Also I have begun a proper blog, at the moment its really mostly a round up of whats here but will soon feature any other side projects I get up too and some step by steps etc as time goes by. It lives here http://badtouchsbasement.blogspot.com/

Now for some very WIP scouts to prove I haven't forgotten about these guys. They will eventually be armed with shotguns.
