Hey there everyone

My name\'s Max and this is a figure I painted recently for sale on ebay. I used mostly VMCs and the base was sculpted using milliput. Questions, comments and criticisms are very welcome.

Very nice work, skin and metals especially, the base really catches my eye, would you like to go into detail on how you built it up please ?

Basically I started by building a mound of milliput on the 50mm base. I use a little spatula to make the basic shape of the rocks then I press a rough fish tank pebble softly over the surface (I bought a big bag of flouro coloured ones and they\'re the perfect size/texture). I left this to cure a bit before cutting a square out of the middle (filed once dry). The small section of the base was made similarly except it had to be made higher to match the contours of the surrounding rock. The main thing that adds realism though I find is going over the edges again once it\'s dry with a hobby knife to make them as sharp as possible. You can also use it to cut sediments into the rock like layers. This is easily done by continuously cutting in horizontally and just flicking the knife upward to snap the section off. Apart from that the log is just a twig, the dirt is dirt from my backyard and the foliage is lichen from a hobby store.

Hope this helps,

Max.

I recently painted one in same type of Altdorf color scheme! Our model are almost identical. With a few exceptions....

-Your metals are much better. Excellent work on the plate mail especially around the chest.

-Your red looks way, way better. Way to go!

-Your face is painted with much better use of color and looks much better.

-The highlights on your model are done to a superb standard. Way better then mine.

-The basework is excellent. Classy and well conceived. Much better then mine.

Other then that.... samesies!

Way to go! Great work!

I have no critisim what-so-ever! I do like the purple!

Agree with Donga, good work, paint scheme fits the model and it all looks very realistic! The NMM is amazing! I can barely see that it is NMM! Is it NMM or are my eyes tricking me?
