@demonherald, i have been looking at a lot of the historical modellers stuff as well as real life vegetation. it requires a lot more work but is worth it.

i remember ericj explaining on the boards once that as your painting improves you will end up spending more time one your model.

it,s the same with bases i have found. but worth it.

GPA, the pic is just a bit dark and the front of the scope is just not quite right yet - very close, but not quite there.

Other than those to minor things, overall, a very sweet scene - 9 from me.

Your stuff over the last couple of months has improved out of site. I really love this one. How do you paint the wood grain?? Voted on it cant really help you improve on it.

the wood grain is easy mate, well for me it is as i used to do it on 10mm scale chariots

start off with a dark brown.
then paint rough lines with snakebite.
add a light grey (fortress)
before it becomes grey add a bit of pale sand (bleach bone)

use a smoke wash to ad shadow touch up some of the grain with pale sand.

then add bits of weathering with drab greens etc.

hope it helps.

p.s. i have to give credit to romain for the inspiration for the base.
the use of twigs and roots for trees and plants is genious.:idea:
