I used to use enamels many many years ago as it was all I could get in the days of Airfix kits, and I carried on using these until Citadel started releasing paints. I always felt I could not get on very well with enamels though so was glad to make the change to acrylics, enamels I found tasted horrid because of having to use terps/white spirit to clean brushes (once a brush licker always a brush licker) also I found the techneques I was using at the time with them very slow having to wait for them to dry.
I have a friend who still paints with enamels and would not change for love nor money and he has done some buildings for me in enamels with excellent results in the past.
At the end of the day I think what you paint with is a matter of personal choice if you are not happy with one method/type of paint then change until you are happy, these days there is probably far to much choice
