I mean this in a very positive way but while the USA has done nearly everything a nationality can do, it hasn\'t had the chance to develop a rounded national identity.
It\'s easy for countries and regions who\'s inhabitants have been there for thousands of years because they have had time to evolve their thinking where as the USA is only a few hundred very modern yars old.
Because of the period the USA was formed, travel was massively easier than when some other countries were so it has been easier to flood the USA with ideas, beliefs and cultures.
It\'s not a blame thing, it\'s just all happened so suddenly that it\'s no surprise you\'re in and out of PC overload and barbaric power tripping.
I don\'t think populations are very able to adjust to such rapid cultural changes... you only need to look at England... once the worlds largest empire and now pretty much to being back to 1/3 of a tiny little island. It\'s not something easy for a few million people to deal with in a hurry.
While I personally dislike the message of the sign and wording aside, we all know it really means \"you\'re on my land now biatch!\", it\'s wrong to expect everyone being swept along to adjust in an instant to the way of thinking of the day when it\'s all going to change yet again tomorrow.

The sign\'s a bit arrogant if you ask me. Aye maybe he can\'t speak anything other than English, but anyone can point to an order ffs! I\'m not sure wether he\'s just intolerant or just really arrogant in the first place. Maybe he figured if he took the Pro America stance he would ATTRACT customers???

and that was why I corrected myself . . .
I would like to say that, even though there is no Official language for usa, There is a semi official language for buisiness. I would be willing to be that 8/10 Important political/buisiness agreements are made in english.
on the side-
I had a person come into my work and ask us to take down the signs we have in our store that are in spanish. He claimed that this is \"goddamn america\" and not Mexico. So i said to him, if you sir, mr european have a problem with people that speak a different language, why dont you take a walk down the street and talk to the wampanog native americans that were here much before we were.( i live on cape cod, the area were the pilgrims first landed and met with the native americans. The wompanog were some of the first tribes the pilgrims had contact with.)

How tough could it possibly be to take an order in another languange? Jeez, just have a number system on the menu, and the folks can just hold up the number on their hands. The owner is trying to push his political leanings into where it really doesn\'t belong.

BUT...on the other hand, folks that immigrate to the US are doing themselves a serious disservice by refusing to learn the language. They are handicapping themselves terribly for jobs, opportunities, and apparently cheesesteaks. I don\'t think anyone should be forced to learn the language, just like I don\'t think anyone should be forced to learn to drive...but you\'d be better off doing both.
Common sense would go a LOOOOONG way in discussions like these.

I can imagine going to a Chinese takeaway and being forced to give the correct wording for your dishes in Chinese. How fun would that be!
I have no problems whatsoever with this. Perhaps not for the same reasons as others though.
I believe that the government should stay the heck out of stuff like this. I also believe that to be so deeply offended over something as trivial as this is to loudly proclaim yourself a ninny. This business belongs to this man. Making a statement like this could hurt or help his business but ultimately it should be his choice. If people don\'t like it, they should vote with their dollars and eat a sandwich at the shop next door. If I knew that a particular shop owner didn\'t want to do business with me because of my background I wouldn\'t patronize that shop regardless of whether there was a sign there that said as much.
Don\'t get me wrong, I understand why there are discrimination laws in areas of business like housing and such, but I\'m just not sure that your local sandwich shop is on the order of the housing administration.
Seems like labeling everything hate is in vogue these days. If I wanted to live in a nanny state, there are plenty to choose from. I\'d just prefer that we not become one of them. :cussing:

And this is why I hate all people. In general, of course. I don\'t discriminate based on anything but the fact they\'re human. And that right there means they\'re bound to make stupid decisions, get bent out of shape over little things, and cry foul because they damn well feel like it.
I guess it takes a certain breed of person to feel the need to sue because of something like this.
