pish tosh! Many things taste like chicken. Which reminds me I still need to try fried rattlesnake . . . apparently a delicacy around here along with fried everything and anything. Did y\'all know you can have deep fried coke at the Texas State Fair? Or deep fried oreos? deep fried candy bars? what won\'t they deep fry? Oh and don\'t forget deep fried cheesecake and deep fried cookie dough.

Where\'ve you been, Meg? They was deep fryin\' snickers in Boston on some cooking show a couple years ago ;-P Even up here in AK, we have deep fried candy bars, and other odd treats at our Saturday markets and state fair.

I heard this story on Glen Beck tonight and I was right on with what was said. All ow me to unload with my opinion. I am going to use words that offend. So be prepared.
Back when great grandpappy Beo came over on the boat from Ireland. He was greeted with \"Welcome to the USA now learn the language you Mick Bastard.\" And you know what, he did. He assimlated into the culture. Sure he had to work jobs he did not want to do, sure he had to put uo with business that would not hire Irish, but he made his life.
Now lets fast forward a fewyears. I can no longer say \"Beaner, learn the damn language!\" I can\'t say\"We don\'t hire Mexicans.\" Hell just for typing it I am going to be given a warning. What changed? Well first enter Political Correctness and Civil Rights. Combine that with us as a nation lowering the bar (Don\'t get me started on No Child Left Behind) and you have a race of people who do not have to assimlate, intstead we are bending over bacwards for these people and if we don\'t we get sued, arrested, or labeld as being a racist.
What should happen, well first they get jobs doing what we do not want to do (Facotry work, Lawn work, Dishwashing), then they learn the language, and assimilate into our society, we accept them, they work thier way up and become part of the American culture. The whole cycle then starts with another ethnic group.
Ready your History book, that is what the American Expereince is. People come here for a start at something great, but you never get great by lowering the bar.

Your point relys strongly on the fact that, in past years, people have had to assimilate into our society in order to someday be accepted as equals. Now-a-days, times are radically different. So, perhaps, its the american people that should be doing the assimilating. Maybe we should look foward onto our times of whats acceptable and whats not. Rather than spend time complaining about \"back in my day\". Lets be progressive, and look foward.

I\'d deliberately order in Chinese at his restaurant just to pee him off.
Seriously though, I was recently in America (New York City, Chicago & Detroit) and I\'ve got to say that I had a lot of trouble understanding the version of the English language that I heard. Many times I just looked at my brother with a bewildered expression on my face in the hope that he\'d be able to translate for me what had just been said. This isn\'t a good thing given that I\'m an English teacher. Hehe. What I found, is that nearly everyone I had to deal with - shopkeepers, waitresses, taxi drivers etc,- were all of foreign descent so there were all kinds of strange accent barriers blocking communication. I remember listening to some American high-school students (African American - is that PC?) in downtown Chicago talking at the pedestrian crossing, and I was intrigued but shocked with the language I heard. Very unusual form of English!
Another thing that I\'d like to say is that there are so many English speaking foreigners here in Taiwan that make absolutely not effort to learn Mandarin Chinese and go around speaking English with the locals. I had a roommate when I first moved here from Oz, and he\'d been here for over seven years and went around ordering food etc, in English. Very embarrassing! Especially given that the people he\'s talking to don\'t speak a word of English. This goes on all the time with the foreigners. The locals are really tolerant. And actually find it funny. Man! If a Chinese tried to order stuff in Chinese in Australia I could just imagine the dirty/nasty looks they would probably get.
On a final note, the more Chinese I learn the more I\'m realising that English is actually a very limited language. (I thought the opposite when I started learning Chinese) Chinese as a language has a much more abundant lexicon to choose from when really wanting to describe something in great depth.

for the deep friedness I know the candybars have been around for a while along with other deep fried treats. It\'s the finding it all in one place in a wagon aside a cart full o\' greasy sausages. Is it any wonder my dad had a heart attack after the Virginia State Fair 10 years ago? All we had was grease but Texas seems to take the cake.

this is of course utter bullshite.
it works only for white people. it sure as hell doesn\'t work for the people brought to your country at gunpoint to work for you. it doesn\'t seem to work for people who colonised differnt parts of your country at the same time and it won\'t work for the new guys either.
the first lot there didn\'t force you to talk their lingo did they?
