I use W&N for pretty much everything and everyone has said that their brushes last for a lifetime with that brush soap... John has recomended Raphael kaerell synthetic for wet blending has they hold more liquid than regular natural hair and being sythetic they tend to be durable, can't wait to try them

How does the sizes scale? I know you said 2 and 3, BAM, but I can only see 2 and 4 around. Which are good for the 2BB?

Also, bah - GreatArt didn't want to ship here.

I'd be tempted with 2 size 2's the step from 2 to 4 is quite large

Size 2 2.2mm body
Size 3 2.5mm body
Size 4 3.1mm body

Oistene this has been a problem in dickblick...I shall explain why one can only find 2 and 4 ...and believe me Ide rather you guys get 2 (size 2 ) as four is too large..but here's the scoop..because they are synthetic they are supposed to make it with fake hair...well the production of the size 3 ,they were found to be using racoon ...which I believe was illegal..so what happened was a USA boycott of the size 3...I believe that's what the story was that I gathered the info from..so get 2 size 2 and this will function practically like the size 2 and 3.

Make sure they still don't have the rule to not export outside of the usa on animal product. I got screwed my order was cancel last time I wanted to order from blick. If is natural air you want. Weird thing is the first time no problem, then the second time they had that new rule.

Thanks John, that was very warming :) I must admit your passion for teaching and wanting ppl to improve around you is really showing through my work, yes your style is influencing the way I paint, but then your style like magic mate and you have a person have given me loads more passion which I never knew I really had before hand. Sure I already knew a lot of techs to painting but was applying them without really knowing how colour actually works or really how to balance the contrast of a model. Now I'm finding I'm putting all sorts of colours into my pallet but not because I'm following some dudes recipe but because I know what I want the final result to be.... for eg in the lizardmount gold chain around his neck I've used 'blue' in the sections under the neck mostly to cool down the colour temp and help with the contrast from the hot highlights.

Painting like that I would of never of been able to do without your aid, least not within the space of a couple of months, and its made my painting jobs feel so much more balanced than before. Sure I still need tons of practice, specially with getting the contrast right, but I believe that will just come with more practice. You don't need so much contrast on bigger canvas projects :)

thank you John got recognising and helping me bring out my real talents and passion in how/what I paint.

I'm going to post some of my freehand work later today, well more of a miniature painting but the you've some some of my previous canvas work and your right I should include that exp in the work I do and I'll show you and update of the lizard mount for the local some later :)

I feel 8.6 is pretty fair for the mage and I'm finding the tmm is working really well for me, weather its heavily weathered.

Thanks John, your the best, your biggest fan, Dave lol

cheers meo, it was bams idea to use my past canvas art exp in my mini art, never really crossed my mind before, its somewhat of a challenge when I'm used to painting on A3, 2, 1 sized projects which are completely flat lol but i reckon I can do a smooth transition :)
