First post on here guys, but just to let anyone know that can make Euro Militaire that I'll be releasing the first four figures in a new brand. I can't say too much more as all will be revealed on CMON tomorrow evening (UK time), but the range is sci-fi/fantasy, 74mm scale and super cool. We have tables at Euro Militaire which will be the first show where the range will be available to buy on the day and you can see the painted figures.

No first time. Everyone I've spoken too says its the muts nuts. Painting standard way high and everyone who's anyone will be there. Does that chime with your experience?

Just got back from Euro.

Fantastic.

The highest standard of painting I have ever seen. Sheer painters heaven for two days, the judges were highly aproachable and eager too pass on their experience and enthusiasm tips and tricks galore!

I have been (a long time ago) to GD this knocked anything there for six. Thats not too disparage the winners or finalists at GD far from it. Its just that nearly every entry was of a finalist standard and the vast majority were of easily a demon standard or higher. As was pointed out to me as my jaw hit the floor at the the quantity of quality this is the international competition were the best of the best from every country come to show their skills.

My meager efforts were frankly laughable when compared to the rest of the field, but as Paul one of the judges patiently and very helpfuly critiqued my entry I walked away full of ideas and enthusiasm to come back next year swinging for a comendation.

Any one who hasnt gone if you want to see the undisputed finest figure painting in the world this is the place to be.

Heres a very very small section of some of my favourites there were litteraly hundreds and hundreds of equaly good or higher standard.

The painting and sculpting of the minis on display was just amazing. I had a great day chatting to amazing people as well as doing a little shopping. It was great to sit down and have a coffee with good friends as well as oggling Mike's and AndyG's cases of minis.

A very special thanks to AndyG who actually gave me his painted version of Rackhams - The Crow. I'm still checking it out every few minutes, and am really blown away by such unexpected generosity.

Best in show -

Fran and I just got back from Folkstone ourselves, bleeding exhausted, for several reasons including an inconsiderate set of Italian language students at 3am.
Anyhow what John (Megazord_Man) hasn't mentioned is that the Best of Show took Two Years to Construct from Scratch and that it is entirely painted in Oils.
Yes all that freehand is done in Oils and unfortunately the Green cloak doesn't show the intricate freehand properly.

I'd say that this Year the quality was equally as high as Last but fewer entries over all.
I didn't achive anything this year but as a group (AndyG, Megazord_Man and I) got a really good feedback from Paul Blaber of Planet Figure ( and one of the Fantasy Judges) lasting well over 1½ hours. That definitley balanced out any disapointment I might have felt.

Overall great getting the opportunity to catch up with people, see fantastic paint jobs and Sit having a mini realated Coffee Clatch "Show & Tell" with Joe and drooling at his lovely collection.
Also got to natter with Adrian Bay, Ali & Mike McVey, without dissing anyone else there, three of the nicest people to grace our hobby. (Oh yes and just like me Ali is a coffee snob, so I had great pleasure in directing her towards Carluccio's resteraunt in Manchester Picadilly station. Coffee, Tea, Two Croissants =£5.00 and it was the best tasting black coffee I've ever had!)

So I've yet to upload my pics to compliment Andy & Johns but all in all a greeat show.

I only managed to get there for a few hours on the Saturday, (on account of nearly getting to Ashford and remembering that I hadn't actually picked up my ticket before I left the house)
Was keeping an eye out for anyone as I was wandering about, we were obviously in different places at different times lol
