Euro Militaire VS Golden Demon

Granddad!
decisions, decisions......
......as much as I\'d like to go to both, EM (Folkstone 17/18 sept) being the week before GD (Birmingham 25 Sept), don\'t think I\'m gonna have the time to finish both entries
Still got loads of sculpting to do for the Demon, whereas the EM entry is just a paint job. So the question is: Which one would you choose?
I\'ve never been to Euro Militaire before, so should I just go there this year as a spectator and see what & how entries are presented, concentrating on the GD entry
thoughts & comments, I\'ll be back later
:D

Hard choice, very personal which you\'d get more out of. If you like fantasy minis primarily there\'s no question - GD. If you like historical models or would like to see different types and styles of painting than you\'d typically see at mini shows then Euro is definitely worth going to once.

I\'m a judge at Euro, and Orb is a regular visitor, so if you have questions about the show that might help you make up your mind feel free to ask.

Thanks Einion, Rob mentioned you\'d be there
I\'m just starting to get back into historical mini\'s, I\'m halfway through an Alma Figures Grenadier. I just bought Rauls\' \"Maximus\" and John Wayne from Historex, all 54mm
I also bought \"The Complete Bill Horan\" book along with Mike Blanks sculpting book by Andrea Press

I\'d go to EM! Now, I don\'t have the opportunity to go to either, but if I had the choice I\'d go for EM. Seems more interesting. Of course, meeting a bunch of CMON people at GD would be fun, but I won\'t be attending either so...

yeah I know what you mean, I read the the \"who\'s going to GD.....\" thread after I posted this
I think I\'ll go to EM on the Saturday to have a look see, & prepare for next year
@Einion: will Bill Horan be going this year, if so do you think he\'d sign my book?

If I remember correctly he said he won\'t be at Euro this year because he has some shows on the Continent he\'s committed to but I\'m not certain.

If he is there I\'m sure he\'d be only too happy to sign your copy, he\'s very friendly and approachable, just need to catch him when he\'s not busy.

Hi Mick! Just back from holiday and spotted this.

Sounds like you\'re doing GD from the hotel you\'ve booked! But a visit on the saturday to EM would be a sound idea, especially as you\'re fairly close to the venue.

The main thing for me about Gamesday is the comps and meeting folks - at £25 for 6 hours and the chance to buy GW stuff only is quite expensive.
At the one day at EM, for less than £10, you get to see a greater variety of styles and work, and a shed load of traders (including, in previous years some guys selling Warmachine and Rackham stuff), so it\'s paints, putties, tools, books, diorama stuff galore. lots of digging round for one off pieces.

No Mr Horan this year. Mike blank will be there tho, and may be doing a seminar.

I\'m meeting some folks in the Downstairs Bar at EM at 1pm. You\'re welcome to join us!:D

Yeah I\'ve booked a twin room so I\'m hoping someone will share....

yeah definately going to EM on the Saturday, silly not to as I\'m this close.(reminder to self: buy ticket!)

Shame about Bill but if Mike\'s gonna be there I\'d like to go to the seminar, I just got his sculpting book too :D

I\'ll keep an eye out for you/see you in the bar

good luck mick, I wish I was going, but Golden Demon work is severely making me stay at home this weekend. I always wanted to enter EM, it\'s much more prestigious than the demons, and harder to earn a gold there(mind you, they hand out more golds in a category, it\'s more a \'deserves a medal\' thing, than first second and thrid place)

Hi Tammy
Just going to check it out this year, was going to enter Raul Latorre\'s Gladitor (Russel Crowe) 54mm mini, but the original DVD was deleted as they just released a new 3 DVD on the 12th, I didn\'t want to enter it without some proper refence pics from the film. Folkestones not that far from London might be a nice break.(dunno what the train fair would be, mind)
I\'ll be meeting up with Orb/Rob

I\'d love3 to go, but I\'m stuck behind my desk, trying to get my entries for games day done. No parties for me this weekend, just painmting, sculpting and lots of caffiene (not neccesarily in that order)
