the countries are those that are in the european televsion group, which for some reason (just like football) includes israel (how they are european when they are in the middle of the middle east crisis) beats me. The federation also includes some north african countries too.
The uk along with a few others such as germany france etc are like founder members so will always be in it.
I notice that a few years ago the uk used to have semi serious songs and the rest were all europop whereas now the roles seem to be reversing (seems to coincide with when the public starting phone voting to pick the uk entry) must be all those teenyboppers picking up the phone.
Problem uk has is no one likes us anymore (were fine until the iraq war) especially in countries with high muslim populations.
At least the are voting on proncipal some of them
