Evil Dave's Bushido Ito Clan

I got a good deal on some Bushido miniatures earlier this summer and on a lark this past week I started to paint up Chiyo of the Ito Clan for Bushido. Lots of fine detail on her, I'll try to get some better lighting on the face as I spent a good amount of time on it. I still might go back and add some highlights to the hair (I have no idea how to paint black hair). Any suggestions on the basing?

Great start! You could do a blue glaze to make the hair deeper or add flesh tone to black to make a a toned grey/brown highlight for a more natural look. The base You're imagination is the limit. Maybe she's charging through a stream, a field of wheat, across a zen garden? ANYTHING!

Yeah, glaze a navy blue over the highs and lows. Then redo your grey highlights but a bit smaller and lighter and it will look really shiny. Check out how flameon does his black armour and you'll get what i mean The addition of the blue can give it a cooler tone.
