I like the wash. Doesn't look fake at all, it just looks like he spends a lot of time outside. Looks like the wash got in the eyes though, you should go back and hit them again. Try a white mixed with a drop of a light blue.

As for the feathers, have you ever seen a raven up close? They have black feathers from a distance, but up close, they shine with blues and purples. Really pretty and I think it would look good on this guy.

Hi Exiles, I think Prophecy is on the money for the feather colour. Should sit nicely with the yellow cloak lining & green cloth.

How to approach it though? Purple/blue roots on all feathers blended up to black tips? I imagine the other way around would look like purple feathers shaded black rather than black feathers with a hint of colour. Or just flashes of colour where you'd normally put the final fine white line highlight? Probably best to do it in white anyway & then line over it in ink? A tricky one to pull off but it should look great.

All of the ravens I can remember seeing painted are on familiar size birds rather than full cloaks/demons, have you found any minis to reference? I look forward to the next installment :)

Cheers, B.

Personally, I think the blue bangles around his ankles really set off the yellow cloak interior nicely. Draws the eye upwards and adds to the overall composition. Very nice.

Hi Exiles, nice progress :good: I think lighter for the feather tips so that they stand out from the cloak lining clearly, particularly on that curl in front of his feet. Cheers, B.

i think the face and the upper chest would benefit of another highlight (or two), so it stand out more, and would create a more dramatic effect sort of. cool mini!

GreenOne

I paint my thumb.
I'll echo Skelly's comment and add ''A nice light glazing to smooth it all out.''
Cool work on the feather, I suggst a dark grey for the tip, just not quite black.
Are you planning on leaving the eyes blank ? If so they'd need to be a lot whiter than that to have the visual impact that they should have.
