Some things to strip with:

Brake fluid
Oxy clean
nitro mors
oven cleaner

do all these things work with plastic minis as well?

I tried using break fluid once on plastics and it ate them.

Surprises me.
I\'ve seen repeated posts from people claiming they used brake fluid on plastics OK.
Nitro mors and other commercial paint strippers are likely to eat plastics.
Oxy clean was the one surprised me.
NaOH is another one, but sounds far too dangerous to me.

maybe I used the wrong stuff then?

If you did, at least you used the wrong stuff the right way.

The consequences of topping up your brake fluid with Nitromors doesn\'t bear thinking about:eek:

Otter briefly mentioned Simple Green. That\'s what I have been using to strip minis. I don\'t know how it works with plastics, but is does pretty well with metal. May darken them somewhat with prolonged soaking.

It does take a while (and a toothbrush) to get old paint out of cracks and crevices - but it will work eventually.

Another tool I use for removing paint are toothpicks. There are these little plastic ones that have a bend at the end - you can get them at supermarkets with the other toothbrushes or Walmart with the dental stuff. They are also great mini pallet knives for mixing paints.

They will get paint out of the cracks and such without damaging the mini or spending forever scrubbing your brains out.

SG also works great for getting stuborn old paint out of your brushes - I keep a small jar of the stuff on my work table to clean my brushes with.
