Well I know that you must read and learn by heart all the tiny tiny stuff of any contract but well...

once again one of my auctions has been suspended by Ebay !!!!
This time not one of their \"Oh NO Mr GW, we obey we obey, will kill all those who speak your name...\"
No it was just because I said in the item description that people could have more ideas of my skills on my site or know how other painters feel about my work quality on CMON (and I gave the links)

THIS IS NOT ALLOWED
REPEAT !!!! THIS IS NOT ALLOWED

:moon:

please CHERN ANN, BORG, set up an auction system, these vampire really ***** me with their 10% commisions and their integrist stupid rules ....

By the way could someone tell me why (because of course I had to relist and REPAY) insertion fees are 6 time higher in UK than in France ? ???

I\'m curious, Taban, what reason did they give for this practice not being allowed? Is it some kind of \"You\'ll get no advertising out of us!\" sort of rationale, or what is it? ???

I don\'t know what\'s with them. I upload the same pics I submit here, pretty much. I\'ve seen auctions with links to THEIR sites, so why the whole BS? Because they\'re Ebay that\'s why! Company of the snipe bid. :flame:

Ebay rules

The rules on eBay clearly state you cannot link to personal websites from your auction page, but you can from your eBay ME page. Granted you have to actually read all their rules to get this, but they\'re there. Also, if they cancel your auction, they are supposed to refund you the listing fee on the one they canceled. At least they do on eBay US.

Aah, the joys of small print!

I\'ve got links from my \'Me\' page to both CMON and my CMON gallery. I guess there would be no harm in directing people to the link on your \'Me\' page though.

They would pull an auction with a link to another site if you were offering other items on that site for sale, or were offering a service such as a painting service. Basically, anything that attempts to \'circumvent\' their fees. If the link was just offering additional information, then you can include it.

I had an auction stopped for mentioning that I was putting together a website that would offer a painting service!! I did include my email addy though.

No, you cannot put any kind of link in your auction unless the page you\'re linking to gives a better description of the item. It doesn\'t matter if you\'re selling stuff. You are generally not allowed to link to pages outside ebay.

I have had an auction pulled once for including a link to my \"me\" page because the link mentioned that my \"me\" page had a link to my website. I was really mad too, but when you get used to it, following their rules isn\'t that hard..... I just wish they would be fair and have the same rules for everyone. Lots of sellers have links to website in their auctions and ebay doesn\'t seem to care ???

Are all the people retracting your auctions on crack?

Once (Twice, actually) I put up a link to my homepage and nothing happend to me. The first time was a squad, so I gave bigger pics on my webpage, the second time was an elven wizard on a barded steed and I gave pics from 4 different angles on my webpage. This was about a year aago so Ebay must\'ve changed their rules, because I got nothing from them either way about it.

Ebay on crack, now theres a thought

Hey Chrispy,
They can only take down what gets reported or what they find, god knows plenty of auctions that don\'t follow their rules get through - how many times have you seen Reaper minis with Warhammer in the title sold and not get pulled? Also, after hearing what other people said, I\'m not sure it is against the rules to link to additional pictures, you just can\'t have anything else that may indicate you\'re trying to sell stuff outside eBay rules.
Also, while I can agree with everyones irritation with eBay (god knows I get irritated with them everytime I list a new auction it seems), you have to face it, you\'re going to get the best prices there because you have the best exposure. There are many many more people that know of eBay than this site, even if you only count the people interested in miniatures.

I\'ve noticed lots of people link their auctions to here, including listing what the rating is on CMON. Check out Saxon Angel\'s latest sale for example. Does this mean they are likely to stop her?

Rip off Britain

As an Englishman, I can tell you why fees are higher in Britain. It\'s we are stupid enough to pay the Goddamn prices. Why do you think hundreds of thousands of Brits who live near to the coast shop in France? There are loads of Brits who get off the ferry go straight to the hypermarket and bu**er off straight back home again.
I used to work for Ford Motor Company in Dagenham and got a big discount on their cars, however I could watch one of their cars being built in \'my\' factory, follow it over to Europe and buy it from a continental main agent at a lower price than my company discount!
It\'s supposed to be a \'common market\' but all the essentials, fags booze, petrol etc are extortionate in the UK compared to the continent. It\'s our own fault however, because the companies will happily charge whatever the customer is willing to pay and we Brits obviously like to pay more than everyone else. Masochistic streak obviously lol

Is this why the British Empire tried to conquer evryone, finn17? So they\'d have better prices? :p

As for selling Reaper things under Warhammer, I\'m guilty of that also. Speaking of ebay on crack, you have to read this to belive it.. How and Why eBay let that go through is beyond me... Also shows that other brits are just silly.. (Benny Hill music starts playing, Chrispy gets chased by bobbies...) :D

You could be right Chrispy, but during the very brief period the BE existed I would guess 99% of average Brits were below the poverty line themselves so I guess those particular advantages probably didn\'t cross their mind to any great degree.

Yeah, but you have to wonder if Currey wasn\'t a big joke on behalf of the populaton of India. Infact, almost every country the British tried to rule over had some sort of spicy food.. China, Thailand, Africa... This also could be why English food is known for it\'s blandnes.. though I swear Norweigian food is even more bland, if that\'s possible.. :D

Vikings ahoy!

Well, as the Norwegians in their alter ego as Vikings have a certain reputation for conquering, rapin\' and pillagin\' (especially of us poor Brits!) perhaps there\'s just a genetic makeup that prefers conquering to cooking?

I\'m half Norwegian by my mother, and we never loot and pillage anyone.. I think if we did, there\'d be twice as many unpainted minis in my room.. :p

PS Lingonberries rule!

I envy you your lingonberries

I had never heard of lingonberries until you mentioned them but if your mum fed you up on them you are privileged. My Mum, Gord bless her, thought that her only offspring should be bought up on a diet of tripe and brains. And this is just so way off topic we will probably be struck off.:bouncy:

Umm well they already did... B4

Back when I sold my I-kore Gael babe eBay sent me a warning after the auctions ended. Then when I posted my blademaiden they cancelled it 3 days before the auction ended. Why?

Well I had a link to my page, to Coolminiornot.com and an other auctions link. All these are a nono according to eBay. So I edited and reposted the auction to stay within their rules.

quoting eBay\'s Further explanation:
\"When linking to a page that further describes the item you are selling, that page may contain links to other pages that offer items for sale outside of eBay. This is permitted, provided the intent of the link is to further describe your item and the link conforms to the policy above.\"

I crossed my fingers when I put up that CMON link. One more break of the rules and I\'d be suspended. In the end the auction wasn\'t cancelled though I\'m sure they kept a very close eye on me.

I must note that MANY other sellers tend to break the rules and not get caught. I wonder what the secret is...

Peace!
-Angela (who is very neurotic about her eBay auctions now)
