Face you fears!

I\'ve spent the last year facing my fears. I\'ve travelled alone to a foreign counrty twice, told my husband to leave, lived alone, learned the kinds of things \"I\" like and opened up to a wonderful man who was always there but was a delightful surprize anyway.

There\'s a lot more for me to face but this month marks the beginning of a lot of that. It got me wondering...

What fears and new horizons have YOU faced in the last year? If the answer is \"nothing\" than what is holding you back?

This has been one of the most amazing, uncomfortable, happy, sad and conflicting years of my life. I owe a lot of you a great deal for the support you\'ve knowingly and unknowingly given me. Cheers!

Took up kickboxing and boxing in spite of being diagnosed with arthritis. Work through the pain - the pain lets you know it\'s alive - it ain\'t training unless you\'re in pain .... YEAHH!!!

Ahem, not. But it is a struggle. I\'ll never play the guitar again, that\'s the worst thing.

You sure?
Segovia had serious Arthritis and continued to play right up to, and including, the day he died.
Also look at Django Rienhart, lost half a hand in a fire and is still regarded as one of the best players there ever was.

Well I quit my old job (I had for 13 years now), will begin at a new company and will move together with my girlfriend. We will move to cologne so it\'s one of my biggest changes for the last couple of years. I don\'t know many people there so far but I hope this will change quickly. :)
It\'s a bit scary to leave so many friends, family and things behind me, but I think it was time to get my ass up and do something different! :)

got on top of my depression and stopped blaming fate for my life and started to chnge things myself.
gave up smoking, started to exercise and curbed the drinking.
Managed to make a certain drop on the bike that was bugging me

now if i could lose my abject fear of wasps i would be sorted

Lets just say pushbike + 40% incline hill + rain + taxi pulling out = a rather spectacular film worthy crash :) Its allright though, because i can sculpt with the cast on!

Dating.

That\'s my fear, after my long term relationship ended.

And I\'m facing it this weekend.

I\'m VERY proud of you! I hope it goes well but knowing a bit about such things again I\'ll have to warn you that the first few dates after a big breakup are either life long memories or the biggest embarrassments you\'ve ever had. If the first happens WONDERFUL! I\'ll buy you a drink and listen to you talk about it for hours. If the last happens take a deep breath and just go out there again. I\'m a firm believer that there\'s someone out there for everyone. You\'ll find that person, I\'m sure.

You do remember where I work, right? Somedays its a challenge just to go to work.

Yes but when you get back, if my memory isn\'t on the fritz, you\'re going to face \"the isle\", am I right? That\'s a huge step! :drunk: to you sweetie!

Hmm. I\'ve really rather led a charmed life. Don\'t have a whole lot of fears, other than pondering if I should pay off debts (more or less to myself) and go a bit low on cash. But that\'s not really a fear, just a possible problem until it builds back up.

I guess I fear my wife at, er, uh, times. But that\'s excusable.

I figure I\'m scared to show anybody my artwork. Took up sketching this week, and boy do I suck. She wants to see what I\'ve done, but I\'m super embarrassed about it. Three days does not a great artist make.

So, here\'s to hope your fears don\'t eat at you and are overcome!

For 15 years I always worked for others..always ended up on the shit end of the stick. After two years of being bitter and angry about getting laid off and getting a raw deal..I started my own business. Two years later things are going well and I\'m very happy that I dont have to deal with employers.

Yeah it has its ups and downs but I wake up every morning knowing that what happens that day is up to me and no one else.

Now I need to deal with my weight and Ive started on that too.

new job

Have gone from teaching elementary school for the past 6 years to a job in sales. Salary to straight commission for someone brand new is an interesting hurdle.

HUGE transition for me. Definitely don\'t fit the mold of what most successful salespeople I see seem to be.

Not taking the \"No\"s personally and staying motivated - one giant WIP.
