I\'v faced many fears in the past year, and many more to come. Including a huge one which could potentially create a lot of change.

Peace and love...

I met a wonderfull lass in Australia and i\'m seriously contemplating jacking in everything I know anything about to go work there instead.
All i\'ve ever really known is the military, even working for them as a civvy so it\'ll be interesting to see what turns up!

Huge move, but I don\'t really seem to be overly woried about it, some things just seem worth doing. Besides, itll be a hell of an adventure ;)

Have gone from teaching elementary school for the past 6 years to a job in sales. Salary to straight commission for someone brand new is an interesting hurdle.

HUGE transition for me. Definitely don\'t fit the mold of what most successful salespeople I see seem to be.

Not taking the \"No\"s personally and staying motivated - one giant WIP.

Commission sales is a tough job. You\'ve got to be on your toes, and be aware of \'sharks\'... those guys that try to handle every customer to get every sale, including ones you\'re dealing with.

My experience in that area was harsh, but I found that if I stuck with each customer, singly, from start to finish, I wouldn\'t get as many sales, but I\'d get better ones, and the customers would come back asking for me, specifically, later on.

I worked in electronics, though, which tended to be either really tiddly sales, or really big ones. There didn\'t seem to be any middle ground.

Well.... Life\'s pretty decent around here. I had a wierd thing at work wand I got demoted for the strangest frickin\' reason ever, but it\'s turned out better then I could have ever hoped. I think when it\'s done I will have less work to do and more money. That\'s great.

Actually my biggest thing in the last year was just to get better at painting. Sure, not life changing and MAYBE a huge sign of middle age and stagnation setting in but it was wierd going from what I thought was a fantastic painter with a closet full of painting awards from local tournies and such to being a less then mediocre standard by the global eyeball. Not great now, but certainly better.

So I guess that\'s a kind of fear overcome.

Oh yeah, and I finally managed to overcome my fear of failure and actually BEAT the Red Skull. For good this time, I swear!

Hospitals, alone in darkness (not the problem, but more the feeling I get that there is somethign present), being forgotten.

I guess I have to jump off more roofs, spend more time inside my basement painting miniatures and start spamming the internet.
Score!

But on a serious note... do I really want to face those?

I have never been really good at talking to people so I am forcing myself out of my comfort zone and trying to talk to as many people as I can. It makes me real anxious doing this but I think it is necessary.

This year I finally got out of a job that was plain bad for me, and I did it voluntarily, in a recession, with a wedding to save for. After ten weeks of worrying unemployment I\'m now helping a friend get his own firm off the ground and learning all about how it\'s done along the way. I don\'t get paid much, or regularly, and the bills are mounting up, but I\'m alot happier!

Now, I need to find time to paint around being back at work. It was easier when I had every day free. lol !

Well, I moved right across the world (from Auckland, New Zealand, to New Haven Connecticut) after finishing my PhD, with my new wife in tow. It was quite a scary prospect, but it has proven to be a wonderful decision! We have really started to settle in, and the people have all been great

P.S. any Connecticut painters around? PM me!
