Fallen Dark Angel?

Im interested in hearing your thoughts on what obvious characteristics a Fallen Angel mini might have. I though it might be an interesting project to try and learn a few more (any!) sculpting/conversion skills. I was thinking one of the Fallen that was dispersed through space/time but had not turned to Chaos.

If this thread is in the wrong place, please move it!

A few things. He\'d probably have some loosely Dark Angels iconography, slightly warped if he\'s turned to Chaos and kept pretty much unchanged if he\'s a repentant Fallen. The subtle Chaos theme works great but for a loyalist I think keeping him old and beat up looking would be the way to go. Lots of weathering, scratches, dirt/dust, etc.

Using older style equipment would be great as well, including Mk4/5/6 armor and the old school helmets. The main thing? No Imperial Eagles on him, only the Emperor\'s Children were allowed to use the Emperor\'s personal imagery in the older era.

Converting a bolter/bolt pistol to resemble the older styles would be great as well. Either the 2nd edition style with the notch behind the muzzle or the really old ones with the ammo clip right at end of the gun\'s body, right by the muzzle.

Well black armour is a start, there have been several short stories in warhammer monthly etc featuring fallen in dark green armour which fluff-wise is completely wrong  The DA changed their panoply after the Horus Heresy with only the Ravenwing retaining the all black armour.
Otherwise winged swords on the armour is obviously a good idea. Lion iconography would also suit pre-heresy loyalist DA but if they had a bit of a falling out with El Jonsonn they may well have removed it. No eagle on the plastrons as only the Emperors Children Legion was granted the honour to display it. Robes obviously - very popular. Metal rims with spikes as seen on the Chaos SM range would also be acceptable, remember that Pre-heresy they didn\'t know about or understand what Chaos was.
Armourwise Mk 3 is your best bet. As a garrison force the fallen would not have had access to the improved MK 4 armour or the hastily fabricated MK 5. There\'s a nice tutorial on making MK 3 armour marines on one of the other WIP threads.
If you want more inspiration I\'d recommend having a look at some of the artwork from Sabretooths Horus Heresy CCG as there are a few pics of Pre-Heresy DA in there including Chapter Master Astellan

Hope this helps

I\'d imagine something similar to how the Space wolve\'s 13th company (isnt it?) looks.

Bearing in mind all the stuff already mentioned.
He might also have had to scrounge alien/rogue trader gear - not having access to chaos or imperial arsenals.

The 13th Company are some of the worst looking studio models IMO, they\'re quite painful to look at if you ask me.

Aidan has a good point about the mk3 armor, the other variants were driven by manufacturing shortages, battlefield repairs and all that other stuff that came up during the brutal wars of the Heresy.

Lion iconography appears in a few of the older paintings in the new Codex if you want some inspiration (and it might be easier to get your hands on than the old Angels of Death book or anything like that).

Oh yeah, the crux terminatus (the big cross looking things) didn\'t exist back then either, so I doubt a Fallen Angel would bother to pick any up along the way.
