Fallout 3 Armor

Hey everyone,

I've played Fallout 3 and I'm really looking to Fallout: New Vegas. The fiance suggested I try making a Capital Wasteland Diorama. I'm still toying with the idea, and wanted to see if it would really be that difficult. The terrain part would be time consuming, but it's stuff I can do and have done before. I'm thinking for terrain I'd use one of DC's elevated highways with corrugated metal shelters.

I can find plenty of models that match the Raiders. What I wanted to know is if anyone has seen anything that looks extremely similar (or at least a partial match) to the T-51b Power Armor. I'd provide an attachment but I'm at work (lazy jackass, I know) and our network/firewall settings prevent me from finding one easily.

Since the T-51b is iconic throughout all of the Fallout Series I figured it'd be the best thing to use for the "Lone Wanderer". I've managed to find a good model of a german shepherd for "Dogmeat".

Of course, if anyone has model suggestions or advice not related to the T-51b I'd be very appreciative.

how big is this section of wasteland gonna be?
closest i have seen to the power armour is north star's projekt x:

To me it's only the name T-51b that's the iconic part of the armor in 3 since it differs so much from the first two. But since it -is-the centerpiece of the diorama I'd suggest trying to sculpt it. With it being the main part that's going to make it feel fallouty I think it deserves a few extra levels of effort. :)

The problem is that each lone wanderer has been from a different vault each time. For instance the first Fallout Lone Wanderer was from Vault 13. Also I'd want to cover the face, and conceal the gender of the model so that the Lone Wanderer has the aura of mystery and ambiguity to it. Power Armor is simply best for that.

@Chrome - I've never sculpted before. Conversions will be easier.

@Freak - Actually those are pretty nice. I might take a swing with those.

If I'm doing this, the first thing I'm taking care of is the terrain. It's probably be 8x20 inches of broken freeway. (might have to adjust the scale a bit, but those are the basic dimensions I'm starting with)

Oh... So you are referring to all them as Lone Wanderer. I tought you are refering to the Fallout 3 protagonist. According to The Vault (Fallout wiki) fans call the Fallout 1 protagonist The Vault Dweller and Fallout 2 The Chosen.

But about the power armor, i think it would be easier to get one of the minis from my former post, or any other with similar armor, and make some modifications to them. It would be cool to show that the armor was customized and has been throught a lot, this would make it seen more like a player character armor and not one from an BoS, Outcast or similar.

The helmet would be the most difficult part to do. But you could of course show him without the helmet, if he would have the head gear that the armor shows without the helmet in some images, it's entirely up to you.
