As for the rest, totally agree. Amazing read. But it\'s very realistic so for those who like a lot of fantasy in their read, maybe not the right read.

It would seem that in the edition I have the third book was split in two : Steel and Snow, and blood and gold. So I have 5 books on my shelf. But from what you posted not the fith book so to speak I guess

The rate he\'s going it\'ll be 12 books before he\'s done. lol

A lot of people are singing the praises of a Mr. Martin. And admittedly his Game of Thrones is astounding. But as he progressed, he seemed to get caught up in side plots (i.e. so much back-stabbing, swearing, senseless murder, and just random evils of the world). Even then it was still worth reading. I would just skip the chapters that I found pointless.

His last book however lost the plot. So much so that I couldn\'t even finish reading it. It\'s not entirely his fault, as his editors forced him to do something that he didn\'t want to do (split the book in half). But nonetheless it\'s his name on the book and I am very leery of reading the next (second half of the) book.

The highest praise I can give him is that he\'s not afraid to build a character up that you learn to love and then kill him off unexpectedly (Ned Stark). Very, very, bold. Most authors wouldn\'t be able to kill of the main character in the first book of the series and still have a series.

The reason ASOIAF is full of treachery and backstabbing is because its the Wars of the Roses under another name.
