Fargin\' \'PRO\' painters on ebay .. sheesh ...

I started a similar thread a few months ago, so it seems that \"PRO\" painters will haunt ebay forever

I think the only reason \'sniping\' bothers me on ebay is because it doesn\'t show you what the other guy had as a max bid. I could be winning an auction at 10 with my max at 20, just to see somebody else got it at 21. I\'ll get all pissed off, and then it occurs to me .... he probably had a max bid of 25 or 30.

I think if it showed what the other people were willing to pay, that would make people less angry. Obviously you can\'t disclose this information until AFTER the auction ends ....

... On second though, that\'s just way too much extra work

I totally agree with your assesment on the ebay snipers...it is all just part of the game, totally legit, and just a good strategy...BUT having said that, it doesn\'t make me feel any better when I end up losing in the last 5 seconds!! lol....but, I just need to loosen the old wallet a little bit more if I want to avoid it!

The same idea came to my mind when browsing the ebay site this afternoon.
I just wanted to look at some well painted minis, entered the words pro and painted and what i got was ... you can imagine, only 4 real pro painted minis out of a few hundred ;((
Maybe the true veteran painter should come up with a new word

I think that would come under \'invasion of privacy\'. I might not want my wife to know what I was \'prepared to pay\' for instance. It would also upset a few sellers to know that the winning bidder might have paid 3-5 etc times what they actually won the item for. You just have to bid the maximum you are prepared to pay and hope no one else tops it, as Supervike said

I\'m with Finn on sniping on Ebay. It is almost as fun as sniping on unreal tournament. If you have ever been to a real auction, it always goes to the person with the highest max bid, that\'s why it is an auction and not retail, or resale as most of ebay is. Now for the term pro, I don\'t ever say that I am a pro ( that is solicitation). I only say painted to a pro level and I feel it is. Many people search with pro as a filter word like limited or ltd. I also would never use the word Fargin. I have never been to Fargo, but after watching the movie, I can\'t see why anyone would live there. Well, maybe Albertans.(just kidding) they\'ve been noticeably absent lately...

Actually, we used to live in MN and my wife had just seen the movie Fargo and swore up and down that if they talked like that she wasn\'t going to move up there.

Some do ... way back in the country, but for the most part its normal speak. Some of the older folks though ...

We did have a waitress that spoke exactly like the people in the movie...

I found two pretty decent miniature stores there!
