A modern impressionist painter whom I really like is Curt Walters. He lives in Arizona and is famous for his paintings of the Grand Canyon. I would buy one of his works, but they cost more than a sports car!! (For good reason though)

No doubt! As I was scrolling to the top of the page to read everything, I saw the image and thought \"nice photograph\". I\'m awestruck that it isn\'t.

What\'s even more amazing is that his paintings are huge, such as 8 foot by 6 foot or so, and they are all painted with impressionistic brushstrokes. So a closer inspection reveals all sorts of character in the painting. Breathtaking!

Da Vinci is my all time favorite. Mainly because I think he was one of the most creative people to have ever lived.

I have always loved Van Gogh\'s work, but this piece really struck me the most The Chair
After all, what is left of us after we are gone? Just a chair and a pipe?

I have always loved the stark contrasting lighting of Caravaggio, or the intense sculpture of Bernini, or the craziness of Dali... I love most art, and looking at it is enjoyable, and if it isn\'t I guess just move on to the next piece and find something that speaks to you... :) (which to me would NOT be Warhol.... blech!!)

Hovering on that edge - strong realism yet still definitely a painting - is one of my favorite characteristics in a painting.

A few of my absolute favorites are Robert Williams, Joe Coleman, and Dan Seagrave. Robert Williams did a lot of stuff for Big Daddy Roth and hot rod culture around the 60\'s, and now publishes Juxtapoz art magazine. Joe Coleman works with what can almost be described as modern illuminated manuscripts, often based on counter culture figure, or famous serial killers. Pretty strange stuff at times, but hey, we are all on a message board posting about little metal men, who are we to talk? Dan Seagrave did a lot of the seminal early 90\'s death metal album covers. Some of my favorites are below.

I\'m really into expressionist painters. I have the luck to have many art museums here. So I have nearly seen all of the \"classic\" painters. Last painters I have not seen already are Gauguin and Van Gogh (whom I\'ll see this week. Really looking forward to see his painting technique).

Here are some painters which really impress me:

Karl Schmidt Rottluff

Lucy McLaughlan
Banksy
Doze Green
Shepard Fairey

Could write on and on....
