Well this is not very imaginative but I would name Jess Goodwin for his groundbreaking work, he is one of the greatest GW visionaires and much of the current 40k imagery is based on him weather he actually sculptured it or not (chaos, eldar, tyranids marines - most of the 2nd er. of 40k). I have the black library scetchbook (gothic&eldritch) and I also have met him personally. He´s great.

Jes is a good call, but for me it has to be Brian Nelson, especially for his orks. The way he re invented them fro cartoony to brutish was great! I also think theres a lot of character in them too.

Brian Nelson here (Jes in a close second).

Brian\'s Orcs have been good but he\'s done a lot of other stuff and it\'s always genius.

Brian Nelson (for his orcs, mostly, but as Steve said... there\'s been lots of other good stuff from him too).

It\'s really sad to look at the crappy orcs they are currently producing, knowing what great stuff Brian sculpted (and Kevin Adams even earlier...). :(

personally I definetly think that michel and allan perry is the best sculptors in GW. I haven\'t seen much of their work lately unfortunately though. :( I don\'t know if they work for GW any longer, anyone knows?? ???

I dont know there names, but I just love the new Giant sculpt, and the new Empire stuff. There sure is a lot of talent there.
However I\'m not impressed with whoever sculpted the Wood elf eternal guard, in my opinion, they are cr..p, and I hates them forever, having just painted 48 of them, never again.

Yes they still work for GW, but they only sculpt Lord of the rings figures nowadays.

krom: the giant was sculpted by Brian Nelson.

I\'m just going to mimic what steve said. Brian Nelson first and Jes as a close second. Brian is so versatile.. he\'s done the best orcs and the best lotr minis around (mike and alan has done a few really nice as well.. but they are also responsible for the lotr plastic wood elf archers... not sure what happened there) Jes does seem to have a slight problem with upperlips on faces ;) other than that he is the man... :D

I have no clue as i don\'t know who sculpted what.

I know i like a lot of the fitzpatric ones.

I have quite a varied collection which undoubtly represent a lot of different sculptors. But i don\'t know who did what. Bloody shame GW don\'t mention the sculptors with the figures. It allways adds to the worth of the fig for me to know who sculpted it.

Without a doubt it would have to be Jes Goodwin, with out his Vision on the 40K universe the company would of gone nowhere.

As for shere number of sculpts with loads of character it would have to be the Perrys. I wish they would get back to doing more WFB stuff.

As for new blood, I think Dave Thomas and Seb Perbert are two of there rising talents.

Don\'t forget Martin Footitt.. he\'s done some of GW\'s most painted miniatures lately, the farseers and the high elf heroes.

Yes your correct.. Can\'t forget Martin.

Plus theres the crew over at Forgeworld to..thats a another group of talented guys.

GW has a talented bunch, and you see less dogs than really sharp figures these days.
