Since Reverend has \"Had a go at me\" in public I feel that I should at least clarify something here.

I have received quite a number of complaints about reverend over the time I\'ve been a moderator here, but here\'s a question for reverend himself;

How many have been passed forward to you Phil? Perhaps one! Is that not correct ?

With all the complaints sent to me, I\'ve defended reverend\'s right to free speech no matter how little I think of the content of what he\'s posted, and all but one of the complainants have understood my stance in these discussions and we have resolved the issue privately and without any fuss.

Now I quoted Avicenna because he has pointed out, some people come to me in confidence, because they feel uncomfortable with trying to deal with someone who is as outspoken and quite often retaliatory in their responses as reverend and cannot handle the virtual confrontation that they feel will ensue, that confidence I will respect and defend.

Now when reverend PM\'d me I wrote back(via email) and explained my stance and the circumstances, in a reasonable manner as I always attempt to do, in fact if Phil had bother to read the email correctly he would see that I was taking quite a lighthearted view on the whole issue. As far as I was concerned this was a matter that we could have resolved privately and without a public attack on me.

But now I am being publically accused by Phil of a character assasination of him, and he has raised this thread in what I see as a deliberate attempt to gather his own support.

I normally never rise to a confrontation, but in this case it was a necessity to repond to such an attack against me.

You rose against my suggestion that you got something wrong in your moderating and ended up using the fact that people had complained against me as a tool lol It\'s straight forward - I told you what I thought about what you had done, you then bounced back at me with an email about all the ills that have been done by me or said about me, and then you suggest it was light-hearted? I read shitloads Mike, books on books. If there was anything lighthearted in your mail then I\'m a frenchman.

Jeez, you make me laugh.

I\'m a pest, yeah. But an arguement between a moderator and a senior poster cannot be great stuff.

Okay if you want to resolve this kind of thing in public you have to quote the actual text, not say \"he said..\" \"nono.. I said.. but he said\" \"other people says..\".

Either you go all the way and act mature or you deal with it in private, in my opinion. Misunderstandings starts actual wars, you know.

@Reverend: Your thread contained a lot more information than only \"You can contact me if you have a problem with me, I don\'t bite\". It feels like your trying to gain support for your cause, whatever it is. So I truly understand if DR feel attacked

@Dragonsreach: If he complained about a specific moderation on your part, the best way is not a counter attack, as it is fundamentally irrelevant to what he says. So I understand if reverend feel you have been unfair.

You come across as pretty different people, I know you\'ve had arguments before. But don\'t let this be a question of pride, we all make mistakes and we all can say stupid things. The best way to deal with this is either to really discuss and find out what it is that annoys you about each other, preferably in a sensible and mature way. Is it misunderstandings, or just the fact that the other person has certain traits that reminds you of someone else. Cause bear in mind, this is Internet, you don\'t really know each other as well as in face-to-face interaction. The second option is to just leave each other alone. But stuff like this might blow up again..

So the ball is yours, what to do? And if you feel angry.. take some deep breaths, take a walk before typing. Some damages might be hard to repair, even with the kind of relations you get through the Internet.

Hope I made sense. and BTW. I really like you both! :D

Well Rev, you\'ve always been kind enough to let me know when I start talking out my ass, so I figured I\'d return the favor.

So you got your feelings hurt online...so what! No one is crying for you, it\'s not worth it, there are much bigger problems in this world.

So a thread got moderated in a way you disagree with? So what! it\'s not your site, you\'re a guest here, if there is a problem with the way the moderators moderate, it\'s not your place to fix it. You can send private complaints to those who\'s place it is to fix it and let them make the decisions.

So you had someone PM you insults? Again, so what. Your a big boy, and I don\'t see your ego being all that bruised. For a while I would get 3-4 insulting PM\'s a week, and there was even some 100+ post long thread on a french forum dedicated to EricJ bashing. What is the point in bitching about it other than to cry and get attention.

Rev, I respect you for \"keeping it real\" on the forums ;) , but I got to say what you\'re doing in this thread isn\'t worth it, isn\'t you, and you should probably walk away from it. Just like you recomended I do once in my one long embarrasing thread where I spent the whole time talk\'n out my ass.
