You are thinking right my friend, you will need to combine some stuff from the 40k range and the Feral Orcs WHFB range. With help from good old Green Stuff

Yeah I know its 569 Orcs and 3 guargation Squiggoths, and because I need to run two orgiztional charts to make it that far 3 large Squiggoths too...
Its an undertaking...
But one that will only be rivaled by my friends Homigaunt Nyds army... topping out at about 800 minis...
Well guess i will travel to games store to find ideas, and theme...

had a 20 000 pt tyranid army list.,.... i still remmember most of it and hope to acheive it eventualy lol

As for your subject on Feral Orks.Id say plastic 40K and Fantasy models and a lot of converting and Green Stuff putty is in order for you.
One of the back issues of the WD.sorry dont know issue number but it was withing the last 20 issues.. had an interesting article on Orc Cy-boar rider and how to convert them.
