Hi Gang back into painting again after another long break.

Here are my first two entries since the break.

Im determined to improve and would like to work up to a 8+ standard, but I need your help and comments.

welcome!

Well, it shouldn\'t take you long to hit an \"8\" level, as I think these are either there or very close.

The Sorsha is very nice. Maybe a few more highlights and crisper contrast. The Gold NMM looks cool, and the snow looks...well cold.

The Deathwing is cool too. I really like the skeletal armor around him. Some of the paint does seem a tad thick in spots, but you have great attention to detail. Keep it up!!

Thamks for the super fast reply supervike.

I was quite suprised with the picture of the deatwing termi as I really water down my paints. I bought it at a car boot sale and stripped the paint but some was still left in areas, perhaps thats why it looks thick in parts.

what don\'t you like about the banner? Although I can see only a bit of it, it looks pretty cool. Free-hand painted I assume.

About your Deathwing:
Your blends look quite good on the main armor. I think the closeness of the pictures may be hurting you a bit, since we\'re viewing the mini much closer than a person would regularly see if they just saw it on top of a table.
The battle damage looks like it\'d be awesome-looking from further away. Some places look pretty dang good even close up.
Glowing effect on the eyes is good. I\'m trying to learn how to master that myself!
Only final thought is to watch some of your black-lining. The papers (sorry, I don\'t play GW, dunno what they\'re called... :innocent: ) around his belt look a little thick. That may be because of the close photo, however.
Keep practicing! You\'re definitely on the right track. (Doh! Just noticed your other mini! That one looks even better!)

Hi

Deathwing.

First thing that hits me are the eys.Great effect though I would make the eyes themselves greener.
Next thing is the front of the bolter. You want to tidy the circles up at the end.Being off they distract from the rest.
I like the blending with the white armour.
Overall its a nice peice with good colouring and detail though it is a little rough here and there.

Sorcha
Eyes again. They are to dark in the sockets. If your using black then change to a mid tone brown. It makes a lot of difference.
Blues are very nice and the silver nmm is working pretty well.
The gold however could do with a bit more depth.I use thin glazes of bestial brown in the shadows to achieve this.
Snow looks good but I would place some rocks around the front to break up the snow a bit.I dont care for bases that are just snow. Also tidy up the little marks on the rim of the base.Nitpicky but it could mean a point for some voters and isnt much effort.
A closer pic wouldn\'t harm either.
Another 7

Hope that helps you a bit then.
And remember......7 is still a damn good score.

The first 2 pics look a bit dark. Are you running them through some software to adjust? The Sorcha may be due to the camera compensating for the white background (left a comment there). The second pic with the marine is much better.

Looking at your work, I would say you are on the cusp of breaking 8\'s with just a bit more \'wow\' needed and a bit better pics.
