Well it's now official, Fantasy Flight Games have got the Star Wars lisence.

I for one am disappointed.........Have read the RPG for both Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40K I haven't been impressed.

FFG also do to many card games and games with either card or shitty plastic miniatures.

The miniatures posibilities with Starwars is tremendous, and i feel this part of the lisence will go to waste.

Will have to hope that Knight Models increase their Star Wars Line.

any way here's the link to the two FFG games coming out:

I had a look and was not that excited by the products offered. I do however love Talisman and all associated expansions - they have done an amazing job of retaining the feel and updating it for todays gamers.

It's good timing for FFG, nabbing that license. With the new Star Wars MMO on the horizon, that should inject some interest back into the Star Wars hooha since that from the films has waned.

Curious what they do with it. They're a board game company primarily, and didn't care for the treatment they gave WFRP. Cards, and chits, progress trackers, more cards, more chits, party mechanics, shared initiative, and some more cards and chits. Good ideas in some of that design, an evolutions of RPGs, just that the end result wasn't to my taste or playstyle.

I'll pick up that X-Wing game. I like starfighter combat, but that old SW tie-in Star Warriors game is showing it's age. I'll avoid the CCG with the energy I avoid all CCG's, since passing through the CCG tent at a GenCon and feeling icky, those peeps made the D&D fans look attractive and well balanced.

A new SW rpg would make me curious. Lessons learnt from the WFRP 3rd Ed' could channel their evolution of the genre. Their treatment could well make more sense for Star Wars too, as a lot of the "actions" one had on a card with their refresh tokens and such feeling like a mechanic borrowed from an MMO style game, a tie-in to the new SW mmo could feel more appropriate.
