Fidel Castro and a track suit

I saw this article on the Beeb website, and I have a serious, if a bit strange, question.

Why are almost all the pictures I see of Fidel Castro of him wearing a blue track suit?

I\'m serious, is this a cultural thing, or is this just as strange to Cubans as it is to me? Not that CMON is really big Cuba, but, being in America, I don\'t exactly have much contact with that island.

Americans have little contact with Cuba also....that island is a mystery to most of us. We\'ve had trade sanctions there for some time, and we see little news coming from that region.

lol You know, I thought that at first. But he\'s wearing that in nearly EVERY picture I\'ve seen for the last year. And then I started seeing Hugo Chavez and his supporters wearing red tracksuits...so I got curious. If someone from the region told me it was just a local fashion, I\'d be happy - like I said, I\'m just curious.
