FIMO... what kind?

I was on a local hobby shop today, and I seed me some FIMO! :D

They had fimo soft and fimo classic. And in lots of pretty colours. I am wondering which sort of fimo (pretty colours notwithstanding) is best for miniature sculpting. I\'ve seen some pretty amazing stuff accomplished in fimo, and I would like to have a go :D

Cheers

I just, just bought some, both Classic and Soft. I may be wrong but from everything Ive read its simply a matter of what you want to do. The Soft is well, softer, and more maleable. I purchased both for the best of both worlds if I need it since it can be combined.

I agree, there are a LOT of colors to choose from. I got a brick of light beige, nightglow (pale yellow), and 2 bricks of transparent orange (because they were half off

I mix the two types as well depending on what I want..
I prefer te new small blocks of sculpey a lot of fimo retailers are now selling.
as for colours your best going for a grey or clay colour so you can see details easier when sculpting and after drying.

My wife use a lot of Fimo and she prefer the Classic one.
You can reproduce better the details and it dont become too soft in summer heat or if you have hot hands.

Here you can find five brands of polimer clay compared:

Hope this helps :)

I have about 10 pounds of fimo of mixed colors that I would be willing to trade for some tasty mini\'s. Say, half a pound for 2 good mini\'s.

Thanks for your help guys! I\'ll get some next time I\'m ut

Shawn, your offer is appealing but I have few spare minis and California is a long, long way from Leicester... :duh:

Cheers!

I, on the other hand, might possibly take Shawn up on that! I\'ve got some older Reaper and older Confrontation to spare, still in blisters, that I\'d probably be looking to sell soon, anyway. It might just be a week or so before I\'ve gone through them to figure out exactly what I have. Shawn, I\'ll PM you here once I do.

Hey Shawn, sent you a U2U message about this. Just thought I\'d point it out here, just in case, as this U2U thing has got to be, by far, the goofiest version of private messaging of any web-based forum system I\'ve ever used (which covers a hell of a lot).

Never quite got the U2U thing............I got a PM from someone about this FIMO thing and responded to that. What mini\'s would you be willing to trade?

Looking at what\'s gathering dust on my shelf versus what\'s gathering dust on yours, I thought you might be able to do some cool OSL stuff with Reaper\'s:

I have both sitting around in sealed blisters, and while I imagine any clay will gather just as much dust for me as it is for you, I\'ve probably got even less of a chance of doing anything with either of those two figs in this lifetime than I would with the clay. Just let me know if you\'re interested; you can always email me directly at lahatiel@hotmail.com, too, if we don\'t want to keep this thread pinned to the top of the forum discussing our business.

Shawn, since I\'d seen neither response here nor email, I figured I\'d check once more, in case this was something that had just slipped by on you accidentally. If you\'ve decided you\'re just not interested, though, I\'ll simply let this thread fade into obscurity this time around if I still don\'t hear anything -- no need to keep dragging it back up, again and again. :)
