13 watt OTT light finally starting doing the flicker last night. Hints, tips or secret places to get a bulb? Going to Staples after work to see if they have one.

I know the bulbs are spendy....

I have never been too happy with mine. I love the clean light, but hate that it is so damn dim.

you can get 20watt ones, and trust me, those feel like you\'re stairing into the sun sometimes, they should be bright enough!

unless there is just something wrong with your eyes :p

I think mine is 20 watts.....

Maybe there is something wrong with me eyes! I thought that \'you\'ll go blind by doing that\' thing was just an old wifes tale!!!

My light works well during the day, but at night (when I am doing more and more painting) it is just too dim for me.

I actually like that doo hicky Dr. Evilmonki conjured up in the \'show your workspace\' thread. He used an aquarium light and a reflector.

I bought a pack of them cheap on ebay when I thought I had burned mine out.

Turns out if you leave it on for say 10 hours, at some time it goes out. (forgot to turn it off when I went to bed)
However, rest it a bit and it works again.

I don\'t think the base is interchangable between the 13 watt & 20 watt models. (Could be wrong).

And mostly what is wrong with my eyes is that they are as old as the rest of me and prefer to look at things further away than arms reach anymore.

the other option is to use 2 of them! That\'s what I actually do, one is in front/above the mini, the other is behind me shinning over my shoulder. Between the 2 of them it\'s lots of light and cuts down on shadows from a single light source.

Maybe so, but they do have the coolest variety of containers and carrying cases for all your odds, ends and bits.

Our AC Moore carries replacement bulbs and takes a 40% off coupon, which usually comes in the Wednesday paper. Plus, this week they have a new paint caddy on sale for $18.

It looks like it should hold any and all brands of paints and spin like the one for craft paints.

Original Twisted Titanium, what do you live in a cave. Just kidding, a brand of Natural Wavelength light, like the nuclear furnace of the sun is natural.

Don\'t know about better, but definately cooler to work under than halogens.

I got my light about the same time I found CMON. It is on most nights due to the location. Either I\'m painting under it or someone is setting at the couch and reading under it.

So it was initially expensive, but looking at the time, it has been relatively cheap to use.

Call me a cynic, but I think OTT stands for \'over the top\'. IMO it\'s best to paint under the conditions minis will be viewed and I\'ve never heard of anyone gaming, displaying, or paint contest judges judging minis under OTT lights.

Actually my only real complaint is, like Vike, they aren\'t intense enough.

(Of course you can call me a hypocrite as the fluorescent lighting in my basement combined with my incandescent desk lamp inadvertantly cover the full spectrum:))

I have often said, that if people want to win a GD, then they should paint in a gymnasium with flouorescent lights 40 feet above them.:)
