Ok so finally I got my camera back and whipped up a mini for you all to look at. I\'ve had a lot of people on my hotmail account telling me I\'m talking smack about wanting to win a golden demon and dissing my painting skills! I\'d just like to state now I never said I could win one I just said I wanted to!!:)

Ok ok here it is, a Rackham fusilier. This was only a five hour job as I only got my camera back yesterday and the models on the same day suprisingly:rolleyes:

You might not be able to tell but that a rose on the shoulder, I\'m not sure about how good the definition on my camera is. I\'m surprised it actually caught the wood grain effect on the rifle! The rifle didn\'t have any grain to it to start with which was annoying so I had to paint the wood on which just takes too long IMO! Oh well you gotta learn freehand somehow... Well any comments would be nice, how can I improve etc etc...

Cheers DaKid!

Tell me tell me tell me tell me !

How did you do those deeeeep reds ?
I love them, I love the mini !

The rose came out very well i think. And I think everything turned out well.. although the gold is a BIT yellow... maybe using Jenova\'s recipe(check the newest electricocean news and read the interview) could fix that.

Top notch job Alex :) Looking forward to more of your stuff.

Umm is the link broke because I can\'t seem to use it!

Well the id No is 54272 if anyone can\'t use the link.

Anyway how did I do the red? Scorched Brown and Black mixed up through lots of thin layers to Blood red and then a few subtle blood red/golden yellow mix highlights along the tips of the edges.

Yes... because you fumbled it.. :D

You just copied in the hyperlink box and then you had 2 http:// \'s. You don\'t even have to use. the hyperlink box. just copy the URL in this messagebox and it will be automatically parsed.

Thanks for the recipe.. maybe i\'ll redo the cloak on my Coteaz, I hated how mute Red Gore always turned out and hoped Scab red was deeper, but no.. a little darker and exactly the same mutedness  And I have been looking for a good recipe for deep and vibrant reds :)

Awesome!!!

Nice, highly contrasting paint job....you\'ve got nice, vibrant colours there.

I\'m normally quite alright with seeing awesome minis, as I\'ve got the buffer/excuse of age, but seeing as how you\'re 19 it hit home....:D

Are the colours too bright??

That might just be the auto levels but it is really quite bright compared to my usual style. I wanted to try something a bit more unreal for the rackham figs. They just seem to warrant it!:D

Ok so for next time change the background check. Anything else? Any people got any suggestions? I need to learn!

A little more of the mini in the picture next time? Crop function. The trouble is, then the mini is way magnified and ALL of the minor flaws show that could not be seen before.

wow !!
Great job, love it And I really don\'t think that it\'s to bright, I usually really like minis with bright contrasting colors :D. My only advice would be to have a litle bit more of the mini on and less background. And don\'t forget to post more of those :D

RIght so the background was a screw up! Thats cool I\'ll get it right next time. is there any way of printing out a light blue fade on my computer to use for a background?

Check out this thread. Towards the end.

I would not say that the background is screwed up, it is just the only thing I could find to pick on. Nice work.

Alex thats fine work! If that only took you 5 hours try doing one in 10 and you\'ll be well on the way for a \"Deamon\". :D

I think the white background it upping the cameras brightness(?).Ive read on other threads that the camera will set the auto white level to this so if its a bright backdrop you get a bright mini, visa versa.

As for the mini its fantastic.Very well done, and in 5 hours you jest surely.Wheres Mike\'s hammer.:D:D:D

Hmm, my camera seems to go the opposite. If there\'s a bright background behind, it seems to (try) to make the pics a bit darker unless I override it.

And I don\'t think the background is bad in terms of colour, I think it\'s more a matter of having too much of it. I try to crop my pics down a lot, so the edges of the mini are just barely showing. This makes it nice and small, although some people like to have more background showing to center the mini a bit more.
