Hi all,

I finally managed to get a few new minis out there.

The first is a converted khorne champion. I started this mini a long time ago but only recently finished it. Pretty pleased with it:

Khorne champion

And the second one is captain lysander. Great miniature and lovely to paint up:

Both are also up on eBay and more photos on different angles can be seen there. Just click the link :)

So tell me what you think?

Been and voted...

...The Khorne champion is my favorite of the two.The armour is cool on that and the gold NMM looks nicely reflective ;) Cheers

Khorne Champion rocks! The skulls look a bit flat and colorless in comparison, but the NMM looks fantastic and the armor is really well done. Altogether, he looks great.
The Lysander, well, I\'ve never painted something solid yellow before, so I could be talking out my a--. I\'m thinking a bit more contrast between the darkest shades and the lightest highlights. I don\'t know. Yellow seems like it would be difficult to paint. He does look good on the whole though. :)

Love that Khorne champ - great gold on it! Not too fussed about Lysander, but that\'s more to do with the fact that I think the mini is utter poop!

Nice work fella;)

Thanks guys!

I am pretty pleased with both. The champion is a nice excersise in blending, but not much of a challenge: got the reds under the belt quite some time ago and the NMM is just a quetsion of bein thourough (though I was a bit hasty in some steel parts if I may say so myself).

But Lysander was quite new for me. The yellow was for sure. Indeed quite a difficult color do do. Basics are (I learned) that it is paramount to get the base yellow as smooth and covering as possible. There are three thin basecoats on Lysander. The highlights are easy peasy after that (just some layering). I chse a very pure yellow. Very little orange in it and not too white on the highlights. So indeed the yellow is very subtle and not at all bold. Just a choice I made :)

Glad you liked them and thanks for voting and commenting!

Both are very nice.

The gold on the khorne guy is very rich.

Lysander has a very good face, full of determination.

I hope they get good prices for you.

As has been said already the Khorne champ is the better of the two though the comment on the skulls is a fair one but otherwise top notch.

I like Lysander myself and think that your version of him is very good, I would do it myself but cannot get a solid looking yellow with citadel colours for love nor money.

Voted on both by the way.

Thanks for the comments,

Yellow is difficult indeed. I just had a discussion with someone on doing yellows. I think it doesn\'t matter what yellow you use, as long as you adhere to one all important rule: get your yellow base coat on as smooth and covering as possible. I used a mix of GW bronzed flesh with Vallejo transparent yellow (1:1) and used three thinned coats of this as basecoat. Over a white underground. Over this flawless yellow coat I just highlighted a few shades.

The Khorne champ is nice, but indeed very bulky. Compared with the rest of the sculpt I think a real chain would be awkward. But I agree that a little more finesse would not hurt this mini :)

And as of yet there is just one bid on Lysander and none on the Champ... All anyone seems to be wanting nowadays is Ogre kingdoms conversions ???
