Finding Minis for D&D mobs?

I\'m currently running a D&D 3.5 campaign and playing in the 4th edition Living Forgotten Realms RPGA Campaign and I\'ve been noticing a problem. You can\'t find minis for most of the monsters and/or characters.

Back in the day there used to be 4 or 5 companies that did models for use in D&D. Most even used the right name from the monster manual. I know some would use similar names or substitites. I\'m talking about RAFM, Ral Partha, old Citade and Grenadier minis.

Does the same thing exist now and I\'m just not seeing it? Is the only way to get D&D minis, to buy the cheap D&D prepainted minis in a random booster and hope you get the mini you want (or pay rediculous prices on eBay)?

Now I\'ve noticed Reaper still does a lot of D&D style monsters but I\'m still having trouble just finding pretty basic mobs. Recently I\'ve looked for Varags, A slime, Skeleton Archers (Reaper had these but they were long out of print), A runehound, a Choker, An undead king with a crown and full plate, a lurking strangler, a Zombie Ogre, a Minotaur Skeleton, a bunch of fiendish animals (weasles, rats, wolverines, giant spider and giant scorpion) and a bunch more.

Out of all of those minis all I was able to find was the skeleton archers, and I had to buy a Tomb Kings Skeleton regiment just to make up those guys.

Am I missing something?

there is more money for the bigger companies to produce minis for their ranges.

it\'s going to be a while before the roleplaying part of my line is up and running.

Get sued for that now.

my FLGS has several singles for sale from $1 to $10 depending on the size & rarity

Check Reaper\'s Warlord line as well - 3 packs of skellie archers with slotta bases.

Tough to fight the GW beast. If it is not in one of their armies, it probably is not worth producing. But Reaper (try their Fantasy Fig Finder thing), Wyrd, Crocodile Games and a few others do produce things that will port over. Also, pay attention to the toy section. I just picked up a bag of African animals that is just about the right scale - 20 animals for about $5. Try that in lead.

Ironwind Metals produce a lot of the old Ral Partha stuff as well.
