Not particularly happy with this one and gave up on it a bit half way through. Too small to be enjoyable but a superbly detailed kit :)

the black chipping on the cockpit is about the only thing that looks half-assed...
the rest is quite nice...

this was one of my favorite ships as a kid...
nice to see such a detailed kit...

always a pleasure to see what you get up to, mate...
you've got a great eye for cool shit...

cheers

Looks pretty impressive to me. I owned a bunch of AMT kits as a kid that were done up with Testors and those horrilbe plastic brushes Testors used to cell. Woulde be interesting to try something like that now. I know I wouldn't be able to pull off anything this nice.

Anyone else here play the video game "X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter"? Man... that game made me hate Y-Wings. They flew like heavily-armed bricks... escorting them was damn near impossible, flying them was a deathtrap. Those missions were guaranteed re-re-re-flys every time :p

Black chipping on the cockpit is decals. They're shite. Knew I should have DIY'd it...

Just detail them with some grey/steel colour in the middle, so they look more like chips :) It's a great-looking model, just touch it up quick and put it on the shelf where you will appreciate it more than on your work table ;)

I played X-Wing and Tie Fighter a lot, I didn't play the later vs. edition as much. From what I remember the Y became my favourite ship by the end of X-wing the secret were those ION cannons. You just had to disable all the enemies and let your wingman finish them off. A bit hard to do if you really want the killing blow yourself but if you are willing to be a bit patient I found them to be the best ships in the game.

i remember taking out a stardestroyer in "X-wing" was pretty easy with a Y-wing, just blow the two shieldgenerators and then ion it. guess that was sorted out in the later games

And TIE Fighter before it. :D Speaking from a more Imperial perspective, the Y-wings were great. They just needed a few extra shots to get through the shields and armour. A-wings were worse. Too nippy for their own good.

Aside from the paint chips mentioned, nice work. Makes me want to go dig up those Revell snap-fits I got. Are the blue and yellow markings freehand, or...?

Striping is all decals. Kit was too small for me to be bothered masking. 1/72 aint my scale... :D

I've acquired a Buck Rogers Starfighter (1/32 - much larger!) and am in the middle of that. Also have an old ERTL snowspeeder half built and am at work on modding a Hasbro General Grievous Starfighter toy that should look decent when it's painted up. These will be much better than this shoddy effort :)

Nice piece of work, be interested to see what you do with the Snowspeeder. I have that kit and want to detail it a bit but am currently trying to work out what to do with the pilots and their ridiculous proportions.
