I\'m painting dwarfs (what, again?:duh:) and find myself stuck: I\'ve never painted nails before, and that is a problem as I\'ve worked from foundation flesh up to elf flesh without adding shadows - should I? for nails? and for the shadow of thick eyebrows over deep set eyes???

HELP!

Do you have any close-ups of the areas involved so we can give some tips :p

Also - what scale is this dwarf? As I can\'t imagine fingernails are gonna be that noticable on a 28mm dwarf!! :p

It\'s a 28mm dwarf :-D and I want to mark at least the nails, I\'m learning and improving everyday so I want to do that extra bit
**>RITUAL** foundation blabla flesh (can\'t memorise the name) is darker than dwarf flesh but same colour.

I have to take pics tomorow I guess

I would paint them a lighter shad of the skin tone. almost white at the tips if theres enough room. If not just go a shade or two lighter and that should work

Um....a question?.....Why are you painting eye shadow and nails on a dwarf? Trying to humiliate the poor little bugger? ;)

Just kidding. Good luck on it!

:duh::duh::duh: can\'t stop laughing - yes indeed it might sound a bit... er.... the Rocky Horror with dwarfs??????

I get the idea for nails, any suggestion for the shadow of the eyebrows? Or for shadoow on skin in general? I hate the too heavy brown wash-in-the-crannies.

With dwarfs i always go for the rosey ive had a few pints in me look rether than a full on shade, just make up a bit of redy pinky mix. Added it the top off the cheeks and the tip of the nose, not sure it would work for the eyes but it would probly mean less shading due to the lightness of the highlight with the pinky mix :D

I usually go for the outline in a dark color, unless these guys have been washing for supper or getting regular manicures, they probably have grubby hands and add a bleached bone to the nail seems to look fine. You could go for any other flesh highlight color as well just make sure it contrasts with the hand.

For fingernails, I usually go with a graveyard earth base lightening up with bleached bone or vallejo off-white. Maybe including a kommando khaki/desert yellow mid stage on larger models.
