------------------------------------------------------

Hi guys brand new to the forums here, my first work, I just started to get into the hobby of warhammer/40k and have some Ideas and prodjects I am going to start working on, my first Leman Russ the great space wolves primarch. I am going to make him with the frost blade (still working on the teeth of it and the master crafter bolt pistol. Eventually I am going to get/make his 2 wolves. Here is a start , any comments welcome thank you!

(the green stuff I am using on his pelt for fur also putting some fur underneath each kneepad, and using some on the legs to make him a little bigger. STILL ALOT of work to be done with chest/hands and accesories but this is just a start :)

(ON A COMPLETE SIDE NOTE, I tried registering for Bolterandchainsword forums and it will let me log in but wont let me post , or contact anyone or respond or do anything.... I still havent recieved a confimation in the email but have tried more than 3 times to get one, If anyone has any advice please let me know, thank you!)

Nice work so far mate, try checking up on the patterns of armour russ was wearing at the time though, the pattern you are using (or mix of patterns) are far newer.

And if your on a hotmail account, most of the time the generated emails normally end up in your junk folder.

Thank you, I will take all the advice needed to make this guy what he should be, do you have any links or info where I can study the armor he wore?

Also I use AOL and have checked spam too , still nothing :p

Urgh, not off the top of my head on the links sorry, I have been cleaning up my computer, backing everything up, and now I cant find anything :D

But off the top of my head, he was in MkII armour, which had plated armour, so a series of plates dropping over each other instead of singular solid plates.

Maybe one of the coffin dodgers will have a link, but Ill have a dig in my picture folders and see if I can find something.

However, saying that, just having a search on the pictures archives on here might (ok, I know it will) turn up some useful things, I regularly troll through them looking for things to use.

As for the email/log in situation mate, if hitting it doesnt work, Im lost :D

top pic, thats what I mean about the plated armour.

Now, from memory russ wore a MkII suit of armour, the new master of the armoury is in MkII plate, abeilt far far smaller, maybe get a few ideas off that...

I think your modelling looks really good. If you can just incorporate some of the elements fron the suggested pics you should end up with one hell of a mini. I think the main thing is that you make sure you make him big in every sence, tall, wide, bulky........bigger than regular size SM.

Yeah, if your marine is 28mm tall, you want russ to be something nearing about 45ish.

He was one of the taller primarchs, a real monster.

Terminator legs, lengthened and thickened seem to be the way to go.

dude it\'s nigh on impossible to see from that pic! sort out the sword though it looks kinda messy!. the key with the olf armour is sharp lines so be prepared to file and cut the gs when it has cured

Hopefully a better pic here

Started working on the sword, necklace/cape a little more, changed the right hand so it is lace that will be holding his 2 wolves and a little more details here

Could still do with some closer pics, maybe show of the details you are trying to describe. Not to sure about the sword though

And i dont think it will be tall enough to truly represent the primarchs as they were a bit taller than the normal astartes

i really dont like the sword. it looks far to chaosy imo. i would have kept it plain or maybe serrated rather than spikey like that. the photo makes the rest hard to see but it looks ok to me

You know what I agree with you guys, I don\'t like the sword to much either , im gonna have to replace it. I\'ll try to work on it a little more tonight and post a new pic.

Maybe instead of sculpting a sword, either use a chainsaw as previous Leman russ\' have or convert it and use another sword. The emperors champion sword seem quite popular and it wouldn\'t look out of place if done right

Yeah, I started out using a chainsaw before and sculpted around it, I read about his sword being able to cut through mountains/Ice , I\'ll probably if I can sculpt that small just make the serrated blades of the chainsaw a little larger , we\'ll see what I can do :)

to be honest I think you should skip the serrated sword. Not keen on those on any models, as I think they almost always come out looking a bit corny. The only one that has been pulled of is the regular chainsword. Give him a big impressive \"normal\" sword instead.
I think you have given him a really great pose - where does the base come from?
